Footage catches emotional Bronny James fighting back tears as Lakers unite him with dad LeBron in NBA Draft

Bronny James' name was finally called after years of hype and patience.
Cheers and applause immediately surrounded the son of the The King.
As LeBron James and Bronny both being part of the storied Los Angeles Lakers became official, the son bowed his head and was overcome with emotion.
It was real.
And it was historic.
“Beyond blessed,†Bronny posted on Instagram.
LeBron and Bronny are the first active father-son duo to be on the same NBA team.
Bronny, who struggled during his lone year at USC and overcame cardiac arrest, appeared to feel the weight of the life-changing moment as he joined one of the most famous sports franchises on the planet.
Tears were held back, then began to flow.
"This is insane and insanely wholesome," one fan tweeted.
"I can't believe he actually went to big Bron," a second fan posted.
"He looks so surprised," a third fan wrote.
Bronny, 19, had been expected for more than a year to join the Lakers.
LeBron, the NBA's all-time scoring leader at 39-years-old, had previously said that he wanted to finish his career by playing on the same team as his son.
But the win-now Lakers had to wait until the end of the second round (pick No. 55 overall) on Thursday to potentially draft The King's son, so it would have been easy for another franchise to leap forward and steal the Lakers' mojo.
Maybe that's why Bronny was overcome with emotion when his young name was officially attached to his dad's NBA team.
"With the 55th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers select Bronny James," was announced on TV.
Bronny sat in a far-away room watching himself become part of history.
"Such a heartfelt moment for Bronny!" a fan posted.
"You love to see wholesome stuff like this man," a second fan wrote.
Bronny must claim a roster spot for the Lakers and has a ton to prove just to find floor time in the NBA.
LeBron also must change his recent LA story to win another championship before he retires and move closer to Michael Jordan on the GOAT list.
But a family move years in the making brought him to verge of tears.
He was now a Laker, just like his famous father.
Now, LeBron just has to decide to stay with the Lakers -- he could leave in free agency.
“In the history of the NBA, there’s never been a father and a son that have shared an NBA basketball court, and that feels like something that could be magical,†Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka said.
“We know, and have to respect of course, that LeBron has a decision on his opt-out ... but if it worked out that he was on our team next season, NBA history could be made. And NBA history should be made in a Lakers uniform.â€
