The 2023 Formula 1 season is back this weekend with the Bahrain GP with Red Bull and Mercedes set to tough it out once more.

Last year Verstappen cruised ahead early on and continued to win successive GP's and ended up winning by 146 points with 15 wins and 17 podium finishes.
In second, Charles Leclerc, had just three wins and 11 podium finishes, exaggerating Red Bull's ability in 2022.
There was the usual drama each week but not the tense battles that we had become accustomed to seeing as two great battle it out for the Championship to the wire.
A battle commonplace between Lewis Hamilton and the Dutch champ.
And the betting suggests that 2022 and 2023 might have some similarities with Leclerc as the second favourite at 9/2, Hamilton 5/1 and George Russell 12/1.
Drivers’ Championship winner 2023
- Max Verstappen: 8/13
- Charles Leclerc: 9/2
- Lewis Hamilton: 5/1
- George Russell: 12/1
- Sergio Perez: 18/1
- Carlos Sainz: 22/1
- Fernando Alonso: 25/1
- Lando Norris: 200/1
Mercedes could be the value bet early on though at 13/5 as they progressed into last season well with numerous podium finishes for the British drivers.
Russell and Hamilton didn't enjoy much luck but eventually started to shape nicely with Mercedes' improvements and ended 4th and 6th respectively.
Respectable finishes after a tough campaign and were always the outsiders.
Russell claimed his first ever F1 Grand Prix win in Sao Paulo late on in November, which seemed to have been coming after successive podium places.
Constructors’ Championship winner 2023
- Red Bull: 8/13
- Mercedes: 13/5
- Ferrari: 3/1
- Aston Martin: 50/1
- Alpine: 175/1
Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Max Verstappen is the 8/13 odds-on favourite to win a third successive Drivers’ Championship with the 2023 season kicking off in Bahrain this weekend. Charles Leclerc follows behind at 9/2, while seven-time winner Lewis Hamilton is 5/1. Outside contenders include George Russell at 12/1, with Sergio Perez 18/1 and Carlos Sainz 22/1. Meanwhile, Red Bull is also the 8/13 frontrunner to claim the Constructors’ Championship come November.”
