Barcelona v Real Madrid preview

Just one point and two places separate the two teams heading into Saturday's El Clasico at the top of La Liga.

Defending champions Barcelona head into Saturday's crunch match still unbeaten this season across all competitions, with 10 wins from their 13 matches this season.

Xavi's side currently sit third in La Liga heading into the weekend, just a point behind their opponents on Saturday, having won all of their last eight home matches in all competitions.

The Catalan side prepared for Saturday's Clasico by beating Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday, in which they've now picked up three wins from three.

Real Madrid top the La Liga table heading into the weekend but could find themselves down in fourth place should they lose on Saturday, with Girona and Atletico Madrid also in striking distance.

Carlo Ancelotti's side have won 11 of their 13 matches in all competitions this season, losing to their city rivals Atletico Madrid last month before behind held 1-1 by Sevilla in their last league game.

Los Blancos got back to winning ways in the Champions League on Tuesday night though as they got the better of Braga in Portugal with a 2-1 victory.

Barcelona had won four of the previous five Clasicos before the most recent meeting between the side saw Real Madrid triumph 4-0 at Camp Nou in the semi finals of the Copa del Rey.

It's also worth pointing out that Barcelona have only won on of their last six home matches against Real Madrid, and just two of their last 11.

Xavi does lead Ancelotti in the managerial head to head, taking a 4-3 lead into Saturday's bout.

Barcelona v Real Madrid betting tips

A tight match is to be expected when Spain's two greatest teams come to blows, which could end in a stalemate. Paddy Power are pricing a 1-1 draw at 6/1 while a 2-2 draw is available at 9/1, as is a 2-1 Real Madrid victory. Barcelona have slightly shorter odds at 8/1 to win 2-1.

Jude Bellingham has taken the game by storm since signing for Real Madrid in the summer, and has scored 11 goals and picked up three assists in his 12 games so far for the club.

The English midfielder has scored five goals in his last five games for Los Blancos, and Paddy Power are offering 23/10 odds for him to find the net again on Saturday, or 6/1 to score the first goal of the game.
