Manchester City begin the defence of their FA Cup title they won last season with a third round home tie against Championship side Huddersfield.

Pep Guardiola's side have won their last four matches, and six of their last seven, as they head into Sunday afternoon's game, which will be their first of 2024.

Last season's treble winners have lost just once in 17 games in all competitions since the start of October but find themselves heading into the new year in third place in the Premier League, five points off table toppers Liverpool, though having played a game fewer.

Manchester City went the entirety of 2023 unbeaten at home in all competitions, not tasting defeat at their home stadium since November 2022, 30 matches ago, and just twice since February of the same year.

Making the daunting trip to the Etihad on Sunday afternoon is a Huddersfield struggling at the wrong end of the Championship table and with just one win in their last eight matches.

Darren Moore's side currently sit 21st in the table, three points above the relegation zone following their 4-1 defeat at Leicester on New Year's Day, meaning they make the trip to Manchester off the back of back-to-back defeats.

The Yorkshire side are winless in their last four matches away from home, and have won just twice on the road in 13 attempts this season.

Manchester City have won four of their last five matches against the Terriers and are unbeaten in the seven games they've faced each other this century.
