Everton v Crystal Palace preview
Everton head into their crunch Monday night clash with Crystal Palace having won only one of their last 11 matches in all competitions, a run of form which has seen them slump into the Premier League's relegation zone.
On the flip side, Sean Dyche's side have lost only one of their last four matches at Goodison Park in all competitions, including earning draws against Aston Villa and Tottenham, two of the top flight's top five teams currently, and a win in the FA Cup against tonight's opponents.
The Toffees fell to a 2-0 defeat away at Manchester City in their last outing, their first defeat in four games, albeit their three previous results had all been draws.
Luton's loss to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon means that just a draw tonight would be enough to take them out of the bottom three, however Everton will have played a game more.
Crystal Palace make the trip to Merseyside in a similarly barren run of form, with four defeats in their last five matches and just two wins in their last 15.
There is increasing pressure from Crystal Palace fans on the current boss Roy Hodgson, who was strongly rumoured to be heading for the exit door last week with former Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner, before being taken ill at training on the same day.
The Eagles have conceded 14 goals in their last four games in all competitions, and will be desperate for a positive result at Goodison Park later tonight to put a stop to their hasty fall down the league table.
The south London side are 16th in the Premier League, and start the night just six points above Everton, the team top of the relegation zone, outlining what a huge game tonight's is, and what an awful game to lose it would be for either side.
Everton do have much the better record in recent meetings between the two sides, unbeaten in their last six, of which they've won four.
It's been nine years since Crystal Palace last won at Goodison Park, and have lost on six of their last seven visits to the blue half of Merseyside.
