Leeds head into tonight's match on Teesside having won just one of their last five matches in the Championship, a run of form which derailed their chances of winning the second tier title and also leaves them outside the automatic promotion places.
Daniel Farke's side are three games without a win, a run which includes two defeats, heading into tonight's clash, which leaves them two points behind Ipswich and four off Leicester in the race for automatic promotion, which each team having three matches to play.
The West Yorkshire side, looking for an instant promotion back to the Premier League after last season's relegation, have also only won one of their last five matches on the road ahead of tonight's game and come up against a side who have picked up 10 points from their last four home games.
Middlesbrough have found some form heading in the final stages of the season, and prepare for the visit of promotion chasing Leeds unbeaten in their last nine matches.
Unfortunately for Michael Carrick's side, the upturn in results appears to have come too little too late for their slim hopes of promotion, with Boro heading into tonight's match nine points off the top six with three matches of the season remaining.
Despite their nine match unbeaten run, the Teesside club have only won two of their last six matches, which leaves another season in the Championship next term looking a certainty.
