Euro 2024 finals - Spain vs England
England (6/5)
England are among the bookies’ favourites to win Euro 2024. They went close three years ago, losing the final to Italy on penalties, and Gareth Southgate also led them to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup.
Southgate and his squad know each other inside out, and there is hope among the fans that England’s time has come despite playing a turbulent tournament so far. Having Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham in the ranks will certainly help in the finals.

Spain (4/6)
Spain won back-to-back European Championships in 2008 and 2012, but their tournament record until now was mediocre. They were strong at the last Euros three years ago, but current manager Luis de la Fuente is not at the same level as Luis Enrique, his predecessor. Despite that, Spain had an amazing tournament this year and managed to eliminate Germany and Spain before the finals,
Still, there is a decent blend of youth (like sensational Lamine Yamal) and experience within the Spanish ranks, and any team with Rodri in it must have a chance.

Euro 2024 knocked out favourites
France (-)
France tend to be there or thereabouts when the prizes are handed out. Runners-up at the 2022 World Cup, Les Bleus will be looking to be crowned kings of the continent for the first time since 2000.
Didier Deschamps possesses a wealth of experience in the international game and France arguably have more strength in depth than any other side at the tournament. Kylian Mbappe is the cherry on the cake.
Germany (-)
Germany were in no great shakes for much of 2022 and 2023. They were dumped out of the last World Cup in the group phase, before losing friendlies to Belgium, Poland, Colombia, Japan, Turkey and Austria.
Things have improved since Julian Nagelsmann replaced Hansi Flick, though, and a sense of belief is beginning to return. This is not the greatest German squad in history, but the Nationalelf will be able to call on home advantage this summer.
After losing 2-1 to Spain, the host's ambitions for winning Euro 2024 are over.
Euro 2024 winner - Dark Horses
Netherlands (-)
The Netherlands are also among the dark horses this summer. There is no shortage of quality in Ronald Koeman’s squad, which features Frenkie de Jong, Virgil van Dijk, Matthijs de Ligt and the experienced Gini Wijnaldum.
Memphis Depay has not played much football for Atletico Madrid, though, and there are doubts over where the goals will come from if he is not firing.
Netherlands were knocked out in the semi-finals by England.
Portugal (-)
Portugal won this competition eight years ago and they will be looking to repeat the feat this summer. Their squad was not particularly outstanding in 2016 and there is much more quality at their disposal this time.
Cristiano Ronaldo may have to put up with a rotation role, but he is a handy player to have waiting in the wings. Elsewhere, Bruno Fernandes, Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva would walk into most teams at the tournament.
Loss to France in the quarter-finals has finished Portugal's Euro 2024 journey.
Italy (-)
The defending champions are not among the leading contenders to lift the trophy this year, but they were not widely backed before Euro 2020 either. Luciano Spalletti is an able coach, yet this might be one of the weakest Italian squads we have seen for some time.
Despite making it through a tough group alongside Spain, Croatia and Albania, Italy have been eliminated in the round of 16 phase by Switzerland.
Belgium (-)
Several members of Belgium’s golden generation have departed the international scene, although Kevin De Bruyne, Jan Vertonghen and Romelu Lukaku are still around. Elsewhere, the likes of Jeremy Doku and Lois Openda provide an injection of youth.
Belgium lost 1-0 to France in the round of 16 and finished their Euro journey.
Euro 2024 - Outsiders
Croatia (-)
The biggest overachievers in European football over the last 25 years, Croatia can never be written off. They came third at the World Cup in Qatar and will make life difficult for every team they come up against this summer. At 38 Luka Modric is a fading force.
Croatia have been drawn in a tricky group alongside Spain and Italy and now are knocked out in the group stage of the Euros.
Austria (-)
Austria looked good in qualifying under Ralf Rangnick, who has created a team that plays with hunger and intensity. The draw could have been kinder to them, with France and the Netherlands among their opponents in the group phase.
In a huge blow to the Austrians, David Alaba looks set to miss out with a knee injury. That robs Rangnick of his best player.
Austria was defeated in their round of 16 match with Turkiye, which will play against Netherlands in the quarter-finals.
Hungary (-)
Hungary almost qualified for the Nations League Finals last year, before going unbeaten in their qualifying campaign for the Euros. They will fancy their chances of finishing in the top two of Group A alongside Germany.
Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai is Hungary’s most well-known player, but look out for Barnabas Varga too. A late bloomer, the 29-year-old striker has scored four goals in his first nine appearances for the national team.
