Leon Edwards' welterweight championship fight against Belal Muhammed will be the main event in an action-packed night in UFC 304, the first time the promotion has visited the city in eight years.

Edwards, who was born in Jamaica but now resides in Birmingham, first got his hands on the UFC welterweight belt with a knockout victory over Kamaru Usman back in August 2022, and followed that up with a rematch victory in London seven months later.

The 32-year-old's most recent fight came against Colby Covington in Las Vegas in December last year, which the Brit won by unanimous decision, taking his overall record to 22-3, with one no contest, and is unbeaten in his last 13 fights dating back to 2015.

The no contest came in Edwards' previous fight against his opponent this weekend, after an accidental eye poke rendered Muhammed unable to continue in their bout back in March 2021.

The co-main event on Saturday night will see Tom Aspinall look to defend his interim heavyweight title against Curtis Blaydes, a rematch from when the Englishman last lost a fight in the UFC after a first round TKO in London in July 2022.

Since the defeat, Aspinall has gone from strength to strength, winning his two fights since with a performance of the night in each victory, the most recent of which, against Sergei Pavlovich last November, earning him title of UFC's interim heavyweight champion.

Paddy Pimblett also returns to the octagon on Saturday night for the first time since December, as the 29-year-old takes on Bobby Green in a lightweight clash.

Pimblett heads into the fight having won each of his last seven bouts, with a 5-0 record since signing for the UFC, winning performance of the night in three of those five fights.

The Scouser has a professional MMA record of 21-3, but hasn't tasted defeat since September 2018.
