Brighton & Hove Albion 2024/25 EPL betting tips: What to expect from the betting markets?

Brighton & Hove Albion missed out on the top half last season. Can they challenge for Europe again?
⚡My quick betting tip
- Brighton & Hove Albion to finish in the bottom half at 10/11 with Betfred
⚽ Brighton & Hove Albion last season overview
After reaching the giddy heights of sixth the season before last, Brighton & Hove Albion took a backwards step in 2023/24. That was understandable. For the first time in the club’s history they had to balance domestic commitments with a European campaign. As is customary, they had also lost some big players the previous summer.
Even so, the manner in which the season fizzled out was a disappointment, with Brighton dropping into the bottom half of the league table after winning just one of their last 10 fixtures. By then it seemed as if Roberto De Zerbi was already plotting his next move and the Italian duly departed at the end of the season.
⚽ Brighton & Hove Albion manager
Brighton have long thought outside the box and that continued this summer. Instead of hiring Graham Potter for a second time, the Seagulls handed the reins to the 31-year-old Fabian Hurzeler, who has become the youngest manager in Premier League history. Hurzeler is seven years the junior of James Milner, one of his players.
Hurezler’s only previous first-team job saw him lead St Pauli to promotion to the Bundesliga. His lack of experience could be an issue, but Brighton have an excellent talent-spotting track record with both players and coaches.
“De Zerbi had a huge impact here,” he said. “But you have to have your own identity, your own philosophy. I think it is also important to take some elements and always adapt it. If you stay at one point, you won’t do well any more.”
⚽ Brighton & Hove Albion transfers
Brighton have splashed out £30m on Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh, who shone on loan at Feyenoord in 2023/24. Mats Wieffer, formerly of the same Dutch club, provides another option at centre-back. Teenage starlets Malick Yalcouye and Ibrahim Osman have also arrived at the Amex Stadium in recent weeks.
Brighton have lost one of their most important players, though, with Pascal Gross permitted to join Borussia Dortmund. Adam Lallana was let go at the end of his contract and Steven Alzate has also departed.
⚽ Brighton & Hove Albion objective for the season
Brighton would love to get back into the top six this season, but that feels like an unrealistic objective. Hurzeler will need time to bed in and impart his own style of play, although there is not too much difference from De Zerbi. A more practical goal is to target a top-half finish before potentially challenging for Europe again next term.
As well as finishing sixth domestically, Brighton reached the FA Cup semi-finals in 2022/23. They did not go deep in either domestic cup last season and will be determined to do better this time around. After all, this is a club that has never won a major trophy.

⚽ Brighton & Hove Albion strengths
Brighton played some of the best football in the Premier League under De Zerbi. Time will tell as to whether Hurzeler can replicate that, but he is inheriting a squad that knows how to play possession football effectively. Joao Pedro was excellent last term, while Evan Ferguson should be more involved this time around.
Brighton’s biggest strength lies off the pitch. Their scouting network is fantastic and no one would be at all surprised if a young player emerged from nowhere and had a stellar season. The aforementioned Minteh, virtually unknown in England despite his Newcastle United links, is one to watch.
⚽ Brighton & Hove Albion weaknesses
Brighton conceded 62 goals last term and kept just six clean sheets, one of the lowest numbers in the division. De Zerbi’s strategy was of the high-risk, high-reward nature. He encouraged his players to bait the opposition press and then play through them quickly. That produced some thrilling football at times, but on other occasions it left Brighton vulnerable.
Hurzeler will be tasked with introducing a little pragmatism into the mix. In the second tier of the German game last season, his St Pauli side had the best defensive record. That bodes well for Brighton, who cannot afford to be conceding so often. Getting the backline right is one of the most important jobs awaiting Hurzeler, who needs to find the right balance between defence and attack.
💰 What do I bet on?
Brighton & Hove Albion to finish in the bottom half at 10/11 with Betfred. There is so much strength in the top half of the Premier League these days that the Seagulls will probably fall just short again as Hurzeler gets to grips with English football.
