Hibernian vs Celtic predictions
Brendan Rodgers was not a universally popular choice to succeed the extremely popular Ange Postecoglou as Celtic manager last summer.
Rodgers had won plenty of silverware in his first spell at Celtic Park, but his decision to leave the club for Leicester City in the middle of the 2018/19 campaign left a sour taste in the mouths of many supporters.
Rodgers succeeded in winning most of the doubters over last term. For a while Celtic were neck and neck with Rangers in the Scottish Premiership title race, but they ultimately won the title by an eight-point margin.
Particularly key were results in Old Firm games. Celtic beat Rangers three times in the league and drew once, before beating their bitter rivals in the Scottish Cup final for good measure.
It was not an entirely positive season last time out, however. Just like in Rodgers’ first period at Celtic Park, his team struggled to make an impact in Europe. Celtic took one point from the first 15 available in their Champions League group, before beating Feyenoord when the pressure was off. They must do better this time around.
Domestically, though, Celtic are still the team to beat. The Hoops strengthened their squad in the summer by bringing in Paulo Bernardo and Kasper Schmeichel, while they have (so far at least) managed to keep hold of Matt O’Riley and Kyogo Furuhashi.
Celtic got their campaign off to a brilliant start, thumping Kilmarnock 4-0. This will be a stiffer test: not necessarily because Hibernian are a better team than Killie, but because Sunday’s encounter is away from home.
Rangers dropped points in gameweek one, only managing a 0-0 draw with Heart of Midlothian.
It is far too early to start discussing the gap between the two giants, but Celtic will know that a winning run would pile the pressure on Philippe Clement’s men, who are having to spend the first few weeks of the season away from Ibrox due to renovation works.

Hibernian vs Celtic betting tips
Hibernian host Celtic as the 2024/25 Scottish Premiership season continues this weekend.
Celtic/Celtic half-time/full-time - 10/11 (BetMGM)
Hibernian only managed an eighth-place finish last season. Lee Johnson was dismissed as manager following a poor start, but his replacement Nick Montgomery did not see out of the season either after failing to secure a top-half finish.

David Gray, formerly an assistant at Easter Road, is the man calling the shots these days. He played for the club for seven years so is a popular figure among the supporters, who will nevertheless judge him harshly if Hibs do not climb up the table.
A 3-0 loss to St Mirren in gameweek one was not the start Gray envisaged and the Hibernian boss is likely to be disappointed this weekend too.
If Celtic can get ahead inside the opening 45 minutes - as we fancy them to do - it is hard to see the champions not emerging triumphant.
⚽ Go for Celtic/Celtic in the half-time/full-time market at 10/11 with BetMGM ⚽
Both teams to score - 7/10 (BetMGM)
Hibernian will be disappointed by their failure to give a good account of themselves against St Mirren last time out.
And with the Easter Road crowd behind them, there is reason to believe Gray’s team can open their account for this Premiership season.
After all, Hibernian have been scoring goals for fun in the group stage of the League Cup, albeit against lower-league opposition.
Celtic’s backline will certainly be tested more here than it was last time out, when Kilmarnock struggled to lay a glove on Rodgers’ team.
Even though we anticipate a defeat for Hibernian, they may well be able to find the back of the net.
⚽ Back both teams to score at 7/10 with BetMGM ⚽
Matt O’Riley to score any time - 7/4 (BetMGM)
Despite regular links with a move away, O’Riley is still a Celtic player for now.
It is still doubtful whether that will be the case when the transfer window closes at the end of August (Brighton & Hove Albion are at the front of the queue right now), but O’Riley played 90 minutes against Kilmarnock last time out.
That indicates that Rodgers wants to use the midfielder for as long as he remains at the club - a sensible approach given his quality.
O’Riley was magnificent last term. The England-born Denmark international scored 18 league goals from midfield to fire Celtic to the title.
He did not get on the scoresheet last weekend but O’Riley showed what he can do in 2023/24, and Hibernian will be wary of the threat he poses in and around the opposition penalty box.
In what could be his last ever game for the club, we fancy O’Riley to make his mark.
⚽ Tip Matt O’Riley to score any time at 7/4 with BetMGM ⚽
