Newbury 1:50 – Group 3 BetVictor Geoffery Freer Stakes (1m5½f)
Al Aasy is three from four at Newbury and holds leading claims on a track in which he thrives at, and on the back of his smooth win in the Group 3 Glorious Stakes at Goodwood there is every chance he can follow up.
He steps back up in trip here with a 1½ furlongs to contend with. Granted it should not prove a major issue for him (won over 1m5f) on any given day, but he will have to see out every inch of it here with the likely hood of this not being run at crawl.
Sum Sam who is known to get on with things is coming in here on the back of a dismal display at Goodwood and may have to give up front running duties to the selection AL QAREEM.
Having yet to get his head back in front this season, this race may a perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways with the help of the 3lb he gets off Al Aasy.
Just touched off by Hamish on his only visit to Newbury, Al Qareem can go one better here.
A hardy horse who doesn't know when to lie down may be able to get a break on his rivals, and if he is successful in doing so it will take a top level performance to peg him back and get past him.
At the current prices Al Qareem is the standout value pick.

Newbury 2:25 – Play The BetVictor Predictor Now Handicap (5f)
A tight looking handicap sprint that could be blown apart from the front by the improver MC LOVEN.
Having finally gotten off the mark on turf at the ninth time of asking, Mc Loven backed that up with another solid run to finish 4th in a 0-95 handicap at Glorious Goodwood.
He was only beaten 2 lengths on the day, and if he had made a clean break and not hung at the end, then he would have gone very close to winning back to back sprints.
He has been dropped 1lb for that run and his race marks an ease in grade for Mc Loven.
There is every chance that he will be able to get an easy enough time of it on the front end, and if he can keep the edging to the left to a minimum, he may be hard to pass here.
At the prices he rates a great each way bet.
Michaela’s Bay who has had the works done since arriving from Michael Appleby to Robert Cowell (gelded and wind surgery) is an interesting runner, but a watching brief may be best today.

Tramore 7:30 – Brennan's Pharmacy Handicap (2m½f)
A race where a case can be made for many runners none more than Busselton comes in here on the back of a Galway Festival win.
He still looks to have more to offer off this mark and has leading claims, but the one who appeals the most here is the veteran LORD ERSKINE.
He was unlucky not to go very close back on the flat at the Galway Festival where he met major traffic problems when making his challenge two out, and the ran on well at the finish.
Back over hurdles just four days later saw him finish 3rd beat just over two lengths in a 15 runner handicap.
He may be an 11-year-old, but Lord Erskine retains a lot of ability as shown when winning a Listed Handicap Hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival back in February beating Magical Zoe.
He should find this a good bit easier than the flat race he contested at Galway, and the old boy can claim yet another course win under the steering of Siobhan Rutledge.
At bigger prices The Banger Doyle holds good each way claims.

Tramore 8:00 – Dan Cowman Handicap (2m½f)
The Gavin Cromwell trained Macinamillion looks the one they have to beat going on recent flat exploits, but the most interesting runner here is the locally trained RAUZAN.
On Thursday he was recording a four-timer over hurdles off 118 at this very course over two miles. That win came off a 25lb higher mark then when he started his winning spree over 2m5½f at Tramore.
He can be expected to get another hike in the weights for that 3-length success, so a mark of 61 back on the level looks like it is about to be exploited. His previous seven runs on the flat on turf has welded a best place 3rd , but now that he is well and truly in the winning groove it's hard not to see Rauzan cashing in off this mark if turned out quickly with the trip proving no issue. (hurdle wins came over trips from 2m to 2m6f)
