🏆 Players competing for the Golden Boot

Here is our summary of the 10 leading contenders to win the Golden Boot in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

1. Mohamed Salah - Liverpool

This could be Mohamed Salah’s final season at Liverpool, with the forward out of contract in the summer. Salah is showing that he can still be a star at the highest level, with his goals having powered Liverpool to top spot.

Salah has made the net bulge 23 times at the time of writing, leading to him being the bookies current favourite. He is not quite as fast as he used to be, but Salah remains a remarkably accomplished finisher, while his movement is as good as ever.

➡️ Tip Mo Salah to be the top goalscorer at 8/15 with Boylesports 🥅

2. Erling Haaland - Manchester City

Erling Haaland was quick out of the blocks at the start of the season, scoring 10 times in his first five Premier League appearances. The goals have dried up since then, however, with Manchester City struggling for form in general.

Haaland remains a world-class goalscorer, but he needs others to supply him. With the drop in form, Haaland has dropped from looking like a clear Golden Boot winner, to now being second favourite in the odds.

➡️ Bet on Erling Haaland for top scorer at 9/4 with Ladbrokes 🥅

3. Alexander Isak - Newcastle

Since their takeover, Alexander Isak is surely the best piece of business Newcastle have done, with the Swedish striker closing in on 50 Premier League goals in well under three seasons.

Having notched 10 in his debut season, Isak would more than double it in the last campaign. This season, having overcome a broken toe in the first few weeks, he has established himself among the likes of Salah and Haaland as one of the stars of the league.

During December and January, he scored in eight consecutive games, with a brace against Wolves and a hat trick against Ipswich thrown in for good measure. Time is running out to catch Liverpool's Egyptian winger but a similar purple patch in the final months might not be out of the question.

➡️ Back Alexander Isak for the Golden Boot at 14/1 with Coral 🥅

4. Chris Wood - Nottingham Forest

Chris Wood has been one of the surprises of this Premier League season. He was not even Nottingham Forest’s primary centre-forward for large chunks of 2023/24, but Wood is now one of the deadliest strikers in the division.

The Forest frontman has 18 goals in his first 25 outings, already eclipsing his personal best tally of 14 from the previous campaign and from the 2019/20 season while at Burnley. Forest have been excellent so far, but the question is whether Wood and the team in general can keep this up. As things stand, the New Zealand international is an outsider.

➡️ Bet on Chris Wood as top goalscorer at 22/1 with William Hill 🥅

5. Cole Palmer - Chelsea

Cole Palmer was the breakout star of the Premier League season in 2023/24 and he has picked up from where he left off. An attacking midfielder rather than an out-and-out striker, Palmer has once again led Chelsea for goals but will do well to match the 22 goals scored last season.

He's still the first name on Enzo Maresca’s team sheet, while Chelsea have outperformed expectations in general.

➡️ Bet on Cole Palmer to be the top scorer at 66/1 with Spreadex 🥅

🙋 FAQ about the 2024/25 Premier League season

In this section we provide the answers to some frequently asked questions about the 2024/25 Premier League season.

1. Which team is the most likely to win the 2024/25 Premier League?

Liverpool are the odds-on favourites to win the Premier League title. With a new manager for the first time in nine years, most fans would've regarded a top-four finish as success in Arne Slot's first season.

The Dutchman, however, has taken to the job like a duck to water and his side have been nothing short of sensational so far, losing just once in the first two thirds of the campaign.

2. Which teams are likely to end up qualifying for European competitions in the 2024/25 season?

Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are the three favourites to qualify for the Champions League alongside Liverpool.

Other teams in the mix for European football include surprise packages Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth, as well as Newcastle United.

3. Which managers are likely to get the sack this season?

So far, six Premier League managers have been axed by their respective clubs this season - with Sean Dyche being the latest, leaving Everton.

With Tottenham floundering in the bottom half of the table, many believe the pressure has been cranked up on Ange Postecoglu for some time and the bookies' are suggesting he is most likely to be the next casualty.

Ruud van Nistelrooy isn't far behind, however, having failed to lift Leicester away from the relegation zone since taking over from Steve Cooper.

Any club making a change this late in the season would, of course, be taking something of a risk - especially those in the relegation dogfight.

4. Which teams are fighting against relegation?

The three promoted clubs, Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton, are the favourites to be relegated straight back to the Championship. The only other team keeping them company are currently Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The likes of West Ham United, Everton and Crystal Palace have all hauled themselves away from the dreaded dotted line in recent weeks and each have at least 10 points of breathing space as of the middle of February.
