Leicester v Tranmere preview
Leicester have kicked off their new season back in the Premier League following their promotion from the Championship as title winners last season, with a point from their first two matches, leaving them in 15th position in the table at this early stage of the season.
Steve Cooper took charge of the club in the summer following Enzo Maresca's move to Chelsea, and started his campaign as the new Leicester manager with an impressive 1-1 draw against Tottenham on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.
The Foxes then fell to a 2-1 defeat to Fulham in London but will be looking forward to being back on home turf and in front of their home fans for tonight's visit of League Two side Tranmere in the EFL Cup, a competition they've won on three occasions.

Tranmere have regressed in league positions each year since their relegation from League One in 2020 at the early curtailment of the season due to the pandemic, so will be feeling positive about their unbeaten start to the new league campaign after their 16th placed finish last term.
Nigel Adkins' side have won one and drawn two of their opening three league games this season, keeping clean sheets in all three of their games following their 1-0 win over Walsall on Saturday afternoon, which has shot them into the top half of the table.
The Merseyside club booked their place in the second round of the EFL Cup with a 3-0 victory over Accrington, and will fancy their chances at forcing an upset against a Premier League side expected to struggle in the top flight this season.
The two sides met almost exactly a year ago at the same stage of the same competition last season, with Leicester running out 2-0 winners at Prenton Park in their first meeting since 2009.
Adkins has managed against the Foxes 10 times in his managerial career but is surprisingly yet to come out on top against the east Midlands side, losing six and drawing four of those encounters, though the most recent came back in 2014.
📝 Leicester v Tranmere betting tips
Leicester will head into tonight's game as strong favourites to book their place in the third round of the competition, sitting 80 places above them in the footballing pyramid, and will likely name a much changed side ahead of their Premier League visit of Aston Villa this weekend.
bet365's price of 7/1 on a 3-0 Leicester victory seems a safe and sensible bet.
