Jannik Sinner v Jack Draper preview

In beating 10th seed Alex de Minaur on Wednesday night, Jack Draper became the first British man to reach the semi finals of a Grand Slam since Andy Murray back in 2012, when the Scot went on to win the first of his four Slam titles.

The 22-year-old from London is the only man left in the draw still yet to drop a set in the entire tournament, winning 15 sets in a row to reach his first career singles semi final.

As a result of his performances at Flushing Meadows this year and regardless of the result on Friday night, the 25th seed has broken into the top 20 ranked male players by the ATP for the first time in his career.

Standing in the Brit's way of a first Grand Slam final is the world number one and current Australian Open champion, Jannik Sinner.

The 23-year-old Italian achieved his first taste of success on the Grand Slam stage with victory in Melbourne earlier this year, in what was also the most recent Slam to be played on a hard court.

Sinner is the odds on favourite to win a second career Grand Slam title this weekend, after the usual favourites of Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz both suffered surprise early exits this year.

24-time Grand Slam singles champions, four time winner at Flushing Meadows and defending champion Djokovic was beaten by the Australian Alexei Popyrin in the third round.

21-year-old three time Slam champion Alcaraz was beaten in round two by the Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets, who then fell in the next round to Draper, also in three sets.

Draper and Sinner have only faced each other on one previous occasion, with the Brit coming out on top with a straight sets win, by two tie breaks, at Queen's back in 2021.

📝 Jannik Sinner v Jack Draper betting tips

Sinner heads into Friday's semi final as strong favourite for victory, but Draper has upset the odds before in this tournament and the fact that the Brit has won 15 sets in a row to reach the last four can't go unnoticed.

Draper won in the only previous meeting between the two but both players have come on leaps and bounds since that game three years ago, with Sinner now standing at the top of the ATP rankings with a Grand Slam title to his name.

Friday's game could be one step too far for Draper this time around, but will not go down without a fight, and Betfair's odds boost of Sinner to win the tie in five sets at 11/2 doesn't look a bad bet.
