talkSPORT #PickYourPunt:

  • Manchester United to win The Red Devils are strong favourites against a newly promoted side yet to pick up a point in the league this season and whom they are unbeaten against in 15 matches
  • Both teams to score Southampton will be fired up for the visit of a wounded and out of sorts Manchester United side who have conceded five in their last two games
  • Bruno Fernandes to score The Portuguese bagged his first goal of the season against Scotland last weekend and will be hoping the floodgates have now opened for him in front of goal
  • Taylor Harwood-Bellis to be carded No player has received more yellow cards in the Premier League than the Saints defender, who has been booked in two out of three games so far

Manchester United will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon after a slow start to the new Premier League season which has seen them pick up just three points from their opening three games.

Erik ten Hag's side kicked off the season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Fulham, but have since fallen to defeat in each of their last two games, losing 2-1 to Brighton on the south coast before being thrashed 3-0 at home by Liverpool in their last game before the international break.

The Red Devils head into the fourth weekend of the new season down in 14th place in the Premier League table following back to back defeats, just two points clear of the relegation zone at this early stage of the campaign.

Southampton have also endured a tough start to their first season back in the top flight following their promotion from the Championship last season via the play-off final.

Russell Martin is experiencing Premier League football as a manager for the first time, a learning curve which has resulted in defeats in each of their three matches so far this season.

The Saints fell to narrow 1-0 defeats in each of the opening two matches, away at Newcastle and at home against Nottingham Forest before a 3-1 defeat to Brentford a fortnight ago in their last game.

The south coast side are one of only two teams yet to pick up a point from their opening three matches, with Everton's inferior goal difference the only thing separating them from the bottom of the Premier League table.

Both sides will see Saturday's game as a huge opportunity to gain a positive result, with Southampton up against a wounded Manchester United side, who will see newly promoted and pointless opposition as the perfect chance to get back in the winning column.

Three of the last four meetings between the two sides have ended in draws, though United are unbeaten in their last 15 matches against the Hampshire side and haven't lost at the St Mary's Stadium in over 21 years.
