Billy Joe Saunders has told talkSPORT that he does want to return to boxing for a rematch with Chris Eubank Jr.

The former two-weight world champion previously admitted he was contemplating retirement following his first career defeat to Canelo Alvarez last year.

However, after watching his old rival Eubank Jr's win over Liam Williams on Saturday night, Saunders is now motivated by a big money rematch.

"I had a conversation with my dad the other day," Saunders told White and Jordan on talkSPORT

"Boredom sets in at home. There's only so much you can do really.

"There's nothing like getting a gumshield in, getting in the atmosphere, so I would come back for a big fight and obviously he is a big fight.

"I'm a big fight to him and he's a big fight to me.

"So listen, I'm open for talks, they can contact me direct, I'm my own boss, we can get cracking and see where it goes.

"But from a boxing side of things, I think he's got worse if I'm honest."

Saunders beat Eubank Jr by majority decision when they first met for the British and European titles back in 2014.

A rematch has been discussed on multiple occasions since, but is yet to come to fruition.

Saunders continued: "I think it's time for something for the fans.

"The fans have been very good to me, they've paid their money over the years to watch me, I've got a lot of supporters.

"I wouldn't wanna rob them of that.

"I don't need to go in there to prove I'm a better man than him, I already know that.

"But it would be good to make him look stupid."

Reflecting on Eubank Jr's win over Williams, Saunders added: "He did what he needed to do.

"Liam Williams - I reckon he had a very poor night.

"Whether he made the weight wrong or just didn't train enough, I don't know what it was, but clearly Eubank Jr had a better night.

"I had it wide, but to be fair the boxing I saw was difficult to watch to be honest.

"Because trying to imitate [his trainer] Roy Jones Jr, he looked like a baby giraffe that's just been born...

"He's 32 years old, I've always said he'll never be world champion and he's not world champion at 32.

"I won the title in 2015, won another title after I lost that belt.

"I was world champion for the past six years.

"If he wants to be world champion for five or six years he'll have to fight until he's 40.

"Is he gonna do that? No.

"I think he's just best off getting a good payday and saying, 'See you later.'"
