Lawrence Okolie got the job done against Michal Cieslak on Sunday night and now the unification fights he so desperately wants are on the horizon.

The Sauce secured a unanimous decision victory over the stubborn Pole at the 02 Arena to retain his WBO cruiserweight title with IBF cruiserweight champion, Mairis Briedis in attendance.

Okolie looked like he might have gotten the stoppage during the contest, but winning and making sure he is in line to fight his fellow champions is all that mattered to him.

“Paramount,” Okolie said, when asked whether getting the ‘W’ was the most important thing. “It’s good to get that learning under my belt. I thought when I dropped him in the fifth I’d close the show…”

Earlier in the show, Briedis responded to Jake Paul saying he doesn't know who he is and calling him "Mario" by dressing up as Super Mario while working as a pundit for the fight.

He was still in the costume when he got up on the apron to talk to Okolie after his victory. Okolie was asked what he would say to Briedis after his performance and the 18-0 fighter said: “He looks like a clown and I’ll show him that.”

Briedis then said: “Congratulations from me. And also, I hope you feel really good after too many punches to the head area,” the Latvian said in broken english.

“I have a small present for you. I hope you take,” Briedis said after handing Okolie a McDonalds bag.

“This is a real man, this is a very strong man and I hope after Australia we come back to London and fill this arena.”

The joke with the McDonalds is the fact that Okolie used to work there before he became a boxer. Now, he’s actually sponsored by them.

When Eddie Hearn was asked about making the fight, he said that Briedis was on ‘another planet’ in reference to his eccentric attire and game, and Okolie took that as saying Briedis was on another level to him as a fighter, which Hearn quickly corrected.

Briedis has a date with Jai Opetaia in Australia at some stage this year and dealing with that mandatory challenger is his first order of business.
