Tyson Fury’s tailor, Nav Salimian, has revealed his first assignment for the WBC heavyweight champion didn’t go how he had expected.

Salimian was tasked with quickly putting together a suit for Fury ahead of his press conference with Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, only for ‘The Gypsy King’ to famously arrive dressed as Batman.

The fight fan was excited by the prospect of working with one of the biggest British boxing stars, but somewhat overwhelmed by the time constraints placed upon him and the sheer size of the man he was supposed to dress.

“I was very excited because I had been following the [Klitschko vs. Fury] coverage," Salimian told talkSPORT's Boxing Insider.

"Now, I didn’t know that I had less than 18 hours to get a suit prepared and drive up to Morecambe.

“What I wasn’t expecting was Tyson’s freakishly long arms. The sleeve length was about four inches out. Tyson sort of stared at me a goes, ‘I like the suit but what are we going to do about these arms?’”

Salimian went away and worked on the suit for a couple of days only for Fury to opt for a different look when he took to the stage to confront his opponent.

“I had about 48 hours to prepare the suit and arrive at the press conference,” he said. “I arrive at the press conference. I hand the suit over to [wife] Paris and I take my seat.

“I can’t wait to watch the press conference unfold. It’s my first ever boxing press conference... and Tyson arrives as Batman."

Salimian admitted he was confused about why his suit hadn’t been used.

It was only later he realised that the outfit he created for Fury was all part of the Batman bit.

“What I wasn’t aware of is that Tyson was actually using my suit as a prop for his Bruce Wayne outfit,” Salimian said.

“This [suit] has been made famous by Tyson using it as a prop and not only terrorising Klitschko as Batman but as Bruce Wayne as well.”

Fury went on to spring a huge upset to beat Klitschko and the rest, as they say, is history.

Salimian is surely working hard right now as he prepares to dress Fury for another fight.

The 33-year-old is set to return to the ring on April 23 when he squares off against domestic rival and WBC mandatory challenger, Dillian Whyte.

The British duo will fight in front of 94,000 people at Wembley Stadium, making it one of the biggest events in the country’s history.

For those unable to get a ticket, the contest will be available to buy on pay-per-view at a cost of £24.95 for UK customers.

However, it will be live and exclusive on talkSPORT – and won’t cost you a penny!
