The Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte press conference was going so well - until John Fury made his presence felt at the end.

Fury and Whyte had a very diplomatic presser that even featured a few laughs between the pair.

But as they attempted to pose for the face-off to close proceedings, Fury’s father, John, decided to make things interesting.

The 57-year old was seen pointing and shouting at Whyte’s entourage as the two men came in close together.

Tempers began to flare, but both Tyson and Whyte played peacemaker and moved to settle down the surrounding crowd.

Once both men managed to push their teams back, they took their pictures like professionals, shook hands and parted ways.

Speaking straight after, Fury played down the incident.

“People want a big ruckus at press conferences, people want the screaming and shouting and punching. But listen, let the two boxers do a fight and enjoy it,” Fury said.

“It’s not for the two entourages to get involved or anything like that. I have to be professional and say ‘step back, let me and him do what we’ve got to do.’

“We’re here to do a job, we’re both professionals and we’re both here being paid to do a job. We don’t need to scream and shout.”

He added: "Sometimes you have to be a bit diplomatic. Both teams were up on the stage so it was up to me to calm it all down and sort it out.

"Both men are getting paid to do a fight, why do it for free three days before? There would be no point paying to see it. Let's save it all for the night and not all end up in a police van."

Whyte firmly blamed John Fury for being the instigator and suggested he was trying get some spotlight for himself.

“Tyson Fury’s dad needs to relax," the challenger declared.

"My man is 600 years old and he’s stepping forward and not letting my guys onto the stage.

“I said ‘John, calm down. You’re an adult. You keep shouting and screaming like a child. Why are you getting involved? This is me and Tyson’s day. This is me and your son’s day.’

"He’s always trying to get in front of his son. Old man, take it easy.

“John was trying to start something. John Fury is stupid, he wants to rob the fans of a big fight, 90,000 fans of a big fight. John Fury is an idiot. He’s a real idiot,” Whyte finished.

Whyte and Fury will finally meet with the WBC heavyweight title on the line this Saturday, April 23, at Wembley Stadium with a record 94,000 people in attendance.

Whyte swerved the press conference to officially announce the fight last month and was absent for Tuesday's open workout session, so Fury was happy to belatedly see his former sparring partner.

"It was nice to see Dillian after so long," said Fury. "It's been seven years since I last saw him, it was good."

Jamaica-born Whyte has turned his life around through boxing and is adamant he will do everything in his power to have his hand raised.

"I'm willing to do whatever it takes. I'm that kind of fighter where whatever I've got to do I will do: it's victory by any means necessary," said Whyte, who moved to the UK with his family aged 12.

"It means everything to fight in my home country for the world title. It's massive. I'm not scared to take risks, I've taken risks my whole life so it's nothing new. I'm ready to rock and roll."
