Canelo Alvarez is in terrific shape as he weighs in ahead of his fight with Dmitry Bivol

The pound-for-pound king of boxing, Canelo Alvarez, looked a far cry from the days when he was fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr at 152lbs, as he weighed in for his WBA light heavyweight world title fight with Dmitry Bivol.
On Saturday night, Canelo and Bivol will clash at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and the pair both comfortably made weight ahead of the fight, with Canelo weighing in at 174.4 lbs and Bivol registering at 174.6 lbs.
Canelo came to the stage in red tiger-striped pyjamas and sunglasses, accompanied by a mariachi band and he was greeted by an uproar of applause from the raucous Mexican crowd in attendance.
Having won his first world title at 154 lbs, Canelo looked huge in comparison to the early days of his career having filled out considerably to compete at light heavyweight.
This is not Canelo's first time at light heavyweight, as he has previously fought Sergey Kovalev at 175 lbs, who he knocked out in emphatic fashion in the 11th round, showing his power carries up the weight classes.
The Mexican has won world titles in four different divisions so far and he has aspirations to take on the cruiserweights and heavyweights as well, having welcomed fights with the WBC cruiserweight champion, Ilunga Makabu, and the unified heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk.
After weighing in both men addressed the crowd in attendance. Bivol took to the microphone first, saying:
"First of all I want to say hello to everyone. This is the first time I see a lot of Mexican fans against me. Feliz Cinco de Mayo, guys!
"These people motivate me. Listening to the crowd has motivated me.
"I am focused only on the fight and to make a great fight for people and boxing fans. I don't think about what will be after the fight.
"On May 8th I don't have any plans. I only have plans for the fight."
Canelo then spoke to his adoring Mexican fans, as he said:
"I feel proud to represent my country on this weekend [Cinco de Mayo], so I feel very excited.
"I like this kind of challenge, so expect everything from me, like always. I'm going to try my best and do my best in the ring and of course, we're going to win."
