Fighters often look to their corner for inspiration when the going gets tough in the boxing ring.

For many years Canelo Alvarez has relied on Eddy Reynoso, who has guided him from the start through some of the biggest nights of his career.

In that time he has lost just twice, with his most recent defeat coming against WBA light-heavyweight champion Dimitry Bivol in May.

It was a frustrating night for Canelo, who failed to really get a grip on the fight, being out-landed in every single round.

By the time the fight approached the championship rounds, it was clear to everyone at ringside and watching on TV, apart from apparently the judge's who had some suspect scorecards, that Bivol was winning the fight comfortably.

To spur Bivol on and maintain his momentum going into the final few rounds, the Russian's trainer is heard telling him: "Let's go, it's round ten, now is the time."

In contrast, Reynoso, took a different approach, as he seemed just as frustrated as his fighter.

"It's the last f****** round!" he exclaimed. "Son, it's the final round, show the best version of yourself here.

"Do things right. Two shots and move. He's heavier than you and you can't knock him out now.

"Three f****** minutes, use them well OK. Use your head, man."

Canelo went on to lose the final round on all three judge's scorecards, which led to his defeat by unanimous decision.

Bivol had ended a run of 16 fights unbeaten but Canelo appears determined to redeem himself in a rematch.

“This doesn’t end in this way,” he said at the post-fight press conference. “I’m a very competitive person, I’ve got many years ahead of me and I’m gonna come back stronger.

“We want the rematch and we want to do much better in the rematch."

For now, though, he is focusing on a third and final encounter with long time rival Gennady Golovkin.
