Hughie Fury vs Michael Hunter WBA heavyweight title final eliminator set for July 2 in Manchester ahead of Ricky Hatton fight with Marco Antonio Barrera

Hughie Fury will be hoping to secure himself a shot at the WBA heavyweight title when he squares off against Michael Hunter on July 2 at the AO Arena in Manchester.
The fight, which will be live and exclusive on Sky Sports, will determine who will go on to challenge the winner of the upcoming June 11 WBA (Regular) world heavyweight title fight between defending world champion Trevor Bryan and British contender Daniel Dubois.
Oleksandr Usyk is currently the WBA (Super) heavyweight champion and is considered the organization's primary champion. He'll put his three heavyweight belts on the line against Anthony Joshua this summer.
It’ll be a big night of boxing in Manchester with Ricky Hatton set to return for an exhibition bout against ring legend Marco Antonio Barrera.
Fans who purchase a ticket for Fury vs Hunter will also be granted access to Hatton’s fight which will begin after BOXXER’s event has concluded.
Tyson Fury’s cousin is keen to prove he’s one of the very best heavyweight fighters in boxing and plans to do just that by beating the often-avoided Hunter.
“I take the fights everyone avoids. Michael Hunter has fought the best and is up there with the best. These are the fights I want, to show who is the best fighter out there,” Fury said.
“I’m looking forward to this challenge. I believe I’m one of the best fighters in the world and this is another big fight to prove I stand with the top three in the world heavyweight division."
The 27-year-old saw his first crack at a major belt end in a controversial points loss to Joseph Parker in 2017.
Since then, Fury has put together a three-fight win streak that includes a victory over Mariusz Wach on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s win over Kubrat Pulev and an impressive fifth-round stoppage of Christian Hammer in his last bout.
The former cruiserweight Hunter, whose only career loss came against Oleksandr Usyk, was once fancied as a true contender for world honours and will look to get back on track by beating Fury.
Hunter picked up big wins over Martin Bakole, who recently showed his class by battering Tony Yoka, and Sergey Kuzmin, a man many will remember for stopping David Price.
In his last four fights, Hunter’s credibility has taken a hit as he’s suffered two draws. One against the recently retired Alexander Povetkin and another against Jerry Forrest last time out.
