Andy Ruiz Jr has thrown his name in the hat for a trilogy bout with Anthony Joshua in December after his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk

As Anthony Joshua prepares to to take on Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch, another of his previous conquerors has called him out.
Andy Ruiz Jr, who beat Joshua in 2019 and subsequently lost the rematch now wants a trilogy bout, no matter whether the Brit wins or loses against Usyk.
In the first fight between the pair, Ruiz Jr pulled off one of the biggest upsets in boxing history by knocking 'AJ' down four times on the way to a seventh round knockout victory, despite coming into the contest as a huge underdog.
In the rematch, Ruiz Jr turned up more than 15lbs heavier than the first fight, didn't appear motivated and it showed in the ring as he was comfortably out-boxed by Joshua over twelve rounds.
Now, Ruiz Jr believes he deserves another shot, especially because he gave Joshua a chance to regain his belts previously.
"Once he beat me over there, there should have been a trilogy," "I should have had one more opportunity to get back those belts just like we gave him the opportunity with the rematch.
"Things happen, he lost again to Usyk and the best man wins.
"Of course, there has to be a trilogy. Even if he loses or wins, or if I lose or win, there has to be a trilogy some day and some how."
Ruiz Jr could be in luck because Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, recently revealed the Brit will be back in action in December this year, so potentially the Mexican could be in the opposite corner.
With that being said, there are also a number of other options, including the 'Bronze Bomber' Deontay Wilder, who has announced he will be making a comeback to the ring.
Dillian Whyte could also be another potential opponent for Joshua, as the pair have history, having fought once in the amateurs with 'The Bodysnatcher' coming out on top and then again in 2015 in the professional ranks when 'AJ' won by knockout victory.
For the time being, Ruiz Jr must focus his attention on his upcoming opponent Luis Ortiz who he fights on September 4.
