Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn date: Matchroom confirm fight is POSTPONED after Benn’s failed drug test

Chris Eubank Jr will not face Conor Benn on Saturday after the latter failed a drugs test.
The bout was thrown into doubt following ‘an adverse finding’ in a random doping test for Benn and Matchroom have now postponed the fight after the British Boxing Board of Control withdrew their support.
Benn returned the adverse finding for clomifene in August from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association, but had since passed a UK Anti-Doping Agency test and was not charged with any rule violation.
However, the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) refused to sanction the bout, and after various discussions, the fight is off.
A statement read: "After discussions with various parties, we have taken the decision to formally postpone the bout between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn.
"It is undeniable the British Boxing Board of Control's decision to withdraw their sanctioning was procedurally flawed and without due process. That remains a legal issue between the promoters and the Board, which we intend to pursue.
"However, whilst there are legal routes to facilitate the fight taking place as planned, we do not believe it is in the fighters' interests for those to be pursued at such a late stage, or in the wider interests of the sport. As promoters, we take our obligations and duties very seriously and a full investigation will now need to take place. We will be making no further comment at this time and news for ticket holder refunds will follow."
Chris Eubank Sr had claimed he would try to stop the fight over concerns with the catchweight of 157lbs. But Eubank Jr was set to defy his father and make a career lowest weight to face Benn and settle their long-running feud.
But it remains to be seen what happens now.
The 12-round super-welterweight clash was due to be held on Saturday, October 8.
It was going to take place at the The O2 Arena in London.
