Tyson Fury’s father, John, is fully behind the idea of a third fight between his son and Derek Chisora amid ongoing talks about the match-up.

The WBC heavyweight champion, who retired in April following his win over Dillian Whyte, announced his comeback earlier this week and set his sights on a trilogy fight with Chisora.

Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed last week that an offer had been made to complete the trilogy and the Gypsy King seemingly confirmed that on Monday while claiming Chisora is ducking him.

The 38-year-old has since responded by imploring his rival to send the contract as the fight creeps closer despite most people thinking it is an unnecessary mismatch at this point in both men’s careers.

Delboy dropped to a decision defeat when he first fought Fury in 2011 before being totally outclassed and beat up in a 2014 rematch, that ultimately came to an end between rounds nine and ten when merciful trainer Don Charles pulled his fighter out.

One man who is totally behind the idea of Fury vs. Chisora 3, though, is Fury Snr. and he is confident that a third fight between the pair will take place later this year.

“There’s no smoke with without fire,” Fury’s father told White and Jordan on talkSPORT.

“I think Tyson, it’s interesting for him being the only person to fight two people three times. He’s fought Deontay Wilder three times and why not Delboy?

“Somewhere along the line I think he did promise Delboy a farewell fight, didn’t he?

"Nothing’s concrete in life but in my opinion, I think it’s going to take place.”

Big John thinks Chisora is worthy of a shot at arguably the best heavyweight in boxing, despite losing three straight fights before beating Kubrat Pulev by split decision last time out.

“He had a great performance last time, he had a good win over Pulev who is a highly ranked fighter," Fury Snr. added.

"I think it was a marvellous win. I think he has a lot left to offer, Derek. I know he’s in the twilight of his career but he’s having an Indian summer.

“Boxing for Tyson is pure fun. You know, he’s made money, he’s not really interested in the money side of it. He likes to do different stuff that interests him and the Delboy trilogy does interest him.

"And, what a great spectacle. The only winners are the fans because it is an interesting battle. Any trilogy, no matter who it is, is interesting in my book.”

However, the 58-year-old has warned his son that Chisora is not and should not be treated as a warm-up fight, with Fury in line to face the winner of Oleksandr Usyk’s rematch with Anthony Joshua, which takes place on August 20 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

“Let me tell you something, heavyweight boxing is never a warm-up," he said.

"You can never say that in boxing. They are two gigantic-sized men and one punch changes everything.

“No fight is a warm-up and Derek is no warm-up for nobody. Derek is a good fighter still. If it was to happen, he’s got to have a full camp and treat him like he’s any other champion."
