As expected, Tyson Fury has officially come out of retirement and he is now in pursuit of more history.

After Fury knocked out Dillian Whyte in front of 94,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in April earlier this year, he retired from the sport of boxing.

At the time, no one believed him and we have been proven right, as 'The Gypsy King' recently announced he would be returning to the ring.

It looked as if perhaps his retirement might be serious last month when he vacated his Ring Magazine title, but it turns out this was all a ploy to equal a record set by Muhammad Ali.

'The Greatest' is the only three-time Ring Magazine champion in boxing history, having won the title against Sonny Liston, George Foreman and Leon Spinks.

Fury is a two-time Ring Magazine champion, having beaten Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder for the title and now 'The Gypsy King' just needs to beat Oleksandr Usyk to equal Ali's record.

"I got bored with retirement," Fury told the Ring Magazine. "I had five months out the ring and I changed my mind.

"Nobody believed me anyway, did they? I would still have passed a lie detector test, though, for sure.

“I vacated The Ring title and I’ll now become a three-time Ring champion.

“I’m here to do well. I’m not here to be mediocre. Ali stands on his own with those three Ring Magazine belts and I’ll equal that when I get the middleweight [Usyk] in the ring.”

“I was sitting at home for five months doing talk shows and a bit of filming," Fury continued.

"It was great! But nothing will ever compare with being heavyweight champion of the world and having a bit of banter with the lads. And when I say the lads, I mean everyone else in boxing.

“I love boxing. I absolutely adore it.”

“I’ve still got loads of time to do whatever I want. I’ll probably become the ‘New Mongoose’ and keep boxing at 50 years old."

This is in reference to 'The Old Mongoose', Archie Moore, who had an extremely lengthy career spanning four decades from 1935-1963, stepping into the ring 220 times and he retired at 49-years-old.

Fury also revealed that he has decided to fight again to provide a source of entertainment and distraction for the public during difficult times.

"I was away for a minute," Fury said. "But now I’m back. I missed the roar of the crowd and I missed everything about boxing.

“I cannot wait to put on a show during these difficult times. For everyone that’s struggling, crisis times and rising energy bills, I want to give everyone hope and another massive event that they can attend.

"They can have some fun and forget about everything else that’s going on in the world.

"A Tyson Fury fight is bigger than boxing, it’s entertainment and fun for the public.”
