Devin Haney beats George Kambosos Jr once again as he dominates rematch to retain undisputed lightweight world titles

Devin Haney comprehensively beat George Kambosos Jr in his home country of Australia for a second time to retain his undisputed lightweight world titles on Saturday night.

In their first meeting back in June, Haney became WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO champion by masterfully outboxing the Australian for a comfortable unanimous decision.

However, Kambosos Jr activated his rematch clause which forced the American to travel down under once again for a second bout.

The rematch began with a far more aggressive opening from Kambosos Jr, who knew he needed to change his approach entirely after being dominated first time around.

Haney reacted by stepping forwards himself at the start of round two and nailing his challenger with a hard right hand.

The Australian troubled the American early on by regularly switching stances to allow him to close the distance before rushing in with combinations.

Haney began to work out a response though as he accurately countered Kambosos Jr with hard, short shots as he rushed in.

In round four, a pattern from the first fight re-emerged as the champion initiated clinches to nullify his opponent.

As they reached the halfway point, Kambosos Jr's fresh approach appeared to have faded with Haney firmly in control once again.

In the second half of the fight, it simply became target practice for Haney.

Round nine saw things start to spice up somewhat as both men were left with cuts following a series of exchanges in which they each had success.

But Haney resumed his dominance in the championship rounds and left Kambosos Jr badly bloodied as he cemented his points win.

Haney was declared the winner by unanimous decision with scores of 119-109, 118-110, 118-110.
