Floyd Mayweather has dismissed the idea of fighting Ricky Hatton in an exhibition rematch in 2023.

The 50-0 American boxing legend famously beat the British icon back in 2007, with both of them now retired 15 years on.

‘The Hitman’ will return to the ring for the first time since 2012 when he takes on Marco Antonio Barrera in an exhibition bout in Manchester on Saturday night.

And on Sunday, Mayweather has an exhibition of his own against Deji in Dubai.

He has also teased a potential UK bout in February, which some speculated could be against Hatton.

“I’d have to look at it, Hatton told  when asked about the possibility.

"To share the ring with Floyd Mayweather again would be something else.

“We all know how good a fighter he [Barrera] is as boxing fans with all the great fights he’s been in. But I’m going to get the chance to find out first-hand just how good he actually is. I hope doesn’t come back to bite me on the backside.”

At his own press conference on Thursday in Dubai though, Mayweather was asked the same question and replied: "Well I don't have to do it, we already did it for real.

"When do it for fake when we did it for real?

"Ricky Hatton - the great thing about me and Ricky Hatton is that at that particular time Ricky Hatton was at the top of his game. And I've always been at the top of my game.

"We were able to come together and give the fans all around the world excitement.

"Ricky Hatton is one hell of a champion, he's a UK legend, and I think that was 2007.

"In 2007 we gave the world what they wanted to see, action."
