‘The ref was right’ – Derek Chisora reveals what referee Victor Loughlin told him before stopping fight against Tyson Fury
Derek Chisora admits the referee was right to step in and wave off his title fight with WBC champion Tyson Fury.
The British heavyweights squared off for the third time in front of 60,000 fans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night, but it was a rather one-sided affair.

Fury pummelled his opponent for ten rounds before the fight was eventually stopped by Victor Loughlin, with Chisora thanking the official for saving him from another two rounds of damage.
"The ref said: 'If you don't do anything else I'm gonna stop it.' And the ref was right,” Chisora told post-fight.
“You have to go home to your kids. As fighters, you don't wanna stop. That's why the ref's there."
It's a sentiment shared by John Fury, father to Tyson, who told talkSPORT Chisora is a warrior, but his own worst enemy at the same time.
When the pair first fought back in 2011, they were fierce rivals on the heavyweight scene.
However, eleven years and three fights later, they are friends and Fury's concern for his pal in the aftermath was evident and they even shared food backstage.

While Fury and Chisora were happy with the stoppage, YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI felt the referee should’ve allowed the fight to conclude naturally.
“I thought it was a terrible stoppage, but Chisora smashed it. I thought he did very well, Fury didn’t look as good as he normally does, and it is what it is.," he told BT Sport.
"I’m very proud of Derek, man. If it was up to Derek, he would’ve gone out on his shield, but it is what it is. I thought it was a poor stoppage from the ref.
Despite suffering his fourth defeat in five fights, Chisora has already announced his intention to box on and will most likely be in another tough scrap early next year.
Meanwhile, Fury, who holds the WBC heavyweight title, is targeting an undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk who holds the WBO, WBA, and IBF heavyweight titles after beating Anthony Joshua twice earlier this year.
The two men confronted each other post-fight and agreed to face off in 2023.
However, Fury insists that if his fight with Uysk fails to come off, he’ll take on Joe Joyce at Wembley Stadium instead after being impressed by The Juggernaut who knocked out Joseph Parker in September.
