‘He’d get absolutely f***** up’ – British boxing legend Carl Froch sure he’d batter Conor McGregor despite ‘admiring’ UFC icon following social media beef

Carl Froch has re-ignited his war of words with Conor McGregor by claiming the UFC superstar would get ‘f***** up’ if they fought.
Notorious, the UFC star, unexpectedly took aim at former boxer Froch in August when the recent Hall of Fame inductee was working for Sky Sports covering Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua II.
McGregor tweeted an insult about Froch to his 9.7 million followers and then said: "I’ll grab his head and twist it clean off at a 1er with my bare hands. Little wally of a thing I’ll slap you around you little toffee nose toss pot.”
Froch, who angered McGregor by previously declaring ‘he couldn’t punch the skin off a rice pudding,’ quickly fired back at the former dual-weight UFC champion.
“Who is this mouthy little p**** talking to? I will drag you outside with that wispy beard and show you how the big boys do it!!”
Several months later, neither man had commented further on their social media spat until Froch decided to react to McGregor's new clean-shaven look.
“[McGregor’s] shaved his beard since I wrote him off, ain't he? I told him I was going to grab him by his beard and drag him outside,” he said in an interview with Boxing UK.
Despite exchanging some angry words with McGregor earlier this year, the former unified super-middleweight champion insists he has deep respect Mystic Mac.
“Listen, I like Conor McGregor, there is a lot to admire about him,” Froch added.
“He's got a lot of stupid haters that give him a lot of s***, but Conor McGregor, for me is somebody that I admire, I think he is great.”
However, he still stands by his criticism of McGregor’s boxing skills and is confident that he would easily handle the Irishman if they ever actually fought.
Froch concluded: “He’s not a boxer, he doesn’t want to fight me, he’d get absolutely f***** up, but he might do the same to me in the cage and that is why we are both champion in our own right.
“He knows, if he wants a roll around, he knows where to come, but he ain’t going to want this smoke.”
McGregor has been out of action since July 2021 when he fractured his tibia and fibula but is now believed to be fully healed and ready to make a comeback in 2023.
The 34-year-old says he will look to book a fight in February, although his return to action could be delayed by an ongoing issue with the UFC’s drug testing agency.
