Jared Anderson has moved from prospect to contender and will be ready to take on Tyson Fury by 2024, says Bob Arum

We have become accustomed to Tyson Fury being at the top of the heavyweight division, but there could be a new kid on the block.

Jared Anderson is only 23 and he has already put together an extremely impressive professional record of 13 fights, 13 wins and 13 knockouts.

Anderson's promoter, Top Rank founder Bob Arum, has been so impressed with the progress of the young fighter that he believes he will be ready to take on the current king of the division, Tyson Fury, very soon.

"I have my kid, who's not quite there yet, but by 2024 he'll be ready [to fight Fury] and that's Jared Anderson and that will sell out the big stadium in Las Vegas."

Arum went on to discuss another exciting Top Rank heavyweight prospect in Olympic silver medallist Richard Torrez, but he does not think he is quite at the level of Anderson.

When asked if he believed Anderson and Torrez could be future champions of the boxing's glamour division, Arum told talkSPORT, "Certainly Jared Anderson.

"I think Richard Torrez is a great prospect, but he's still a prospect, whereas I think Jared Anderson has moved from being a prospect to being a contender.

"I would put him in with anybody because there's something magic about Anderson.

"Hopefully Richard Torrez has the same type of ability and charisma going forward, but he's a baby and he started a number of years after Anderson."

In terms of Anderson's next step, as he builds himself up for a potential clash with Fury in 2024, after his latest knockout victory over Jerry Forrest, he called out a number of the division's toughest fighters.

In his post-fight interview, when asked who he wanted to take on next, Anderson replied: “All the big names. All those people who are ranked. Anybody in the top 15 in the WBC, WBO, WBA, anybody up there.

“Filip Hrgović. Frank Sanchez…Dillian Whyte, Daniel Dubios… Michael Hunter.”
