Both men are former world champions, though currently Canelo Alvarez owns every single belt in the division.

They are fighting for the right to become his next WBC mandatory challenger.

Benavidez, 26, became a champion first as he won the WBC world title in 2017.

He was then stripped after testing positive for cocaine in 2018, won the vacant belt back in 2019, and was stripped again for missing weight in 2020.

Plant, 30, became a champion in 2019 and held the belt until he was dethroned by Canelo Alvarez in 2021.

Benavidez remains unbeaten to this day with a record of 26-0 (23 KOs), while Plant is 22-1 (13 KOs).

“I can’t wait until they put me in the ring with him so I can beat his ass,” said Benavidez.

“This is going to be a great night for boxing fans.

"I can’t wait to step in there and give everyone the beatdown they’re coming to see.”

Plant added: "After I knocked out Anthony Dirrell, I made it clear I wanted to go after the biggest fight that could be made in the division.

"This is one of the most anticipated matchups and I'm here again, showing the world why I'm one of the biggest attractions in boxing.

"I feel sharp and on point. I’m looking forward to March 25, not only to give the fans what they’ve been waiting for, but to show who the better man is."
