Gervonta Davis pleads guilty to four traffic offences in a plea deal relating to his 2020 hit-and-run case and could face jail time, but potential Ryan Garcia fight on April 15 would come before sentencing hearing

Gervonta Davis has now pled guilty to four traffic offenses in relation to his hit-and-run case, which has been ongoing since November 2020.
The American boxing star could face jail time over the incident, but sentencing is set for May 5, meaning he will be able to proceed with a planned fight against Ryan Garcia beforehand, if it is finalised.
The crash occurred just days after Davis secured an impressive KO win over Leo Santa Cruz in late 2020.
It was alleged that he was driving a Lamborghini Urus SUV at around 1:50am when he ran a red light and struck a Toyota Solara.
Four people were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
In March 2021, Davis was charged with 14 counts of various traffic violations as a result.
Last September, he had accepted a plea deal over the charges which would have seen him avoid jail time and instead receive a one-year suspended sentence with two months of home confinement and work release.
However, this was rejected by the judge at the time after one of the victims, Jyair Smith, made an impassioned speech at the hearing, explaining that she was pregnant when the incident happened.
Smith told the judge how she looked Davis in the eyes and asked him for help before he fled the scene, leaving her with a serious knee injury which she is still struggling with to this day. She also had to undergo gall bladder surgery.
Now though, five months on, a new plea deal has been agreed which has approved by a judge.

Davis' potential fight with Garcia is currently at contract stages and in the process of being finalised for April 15.
Prior to today's news, Davis was due to stand trial over the hit-and-run case with the outcome obviously unclear.
However, he can now move forward with preparations for a Garcia fight, knowing any potential jail time will not come until afterwards.
