Aaron Chalmers landed Floyd Mayweather fight by treating security guard to dinner at height of Geordie Shore fame

Aaron Chalmers' generosity at dinner time helped land a fight with Floyd Mayweather, the Geordie Shore has revealed.
In 2018, when the MTV show was soaring in the ratings, Chalmers was assigned a security guard during a trip to Europe with his reality TV co-stars.
“I always go by treat someone how you want to be treated," he told talkSPORT.
“Five years ago, at the height of Geordie Shore, one of his team was in Belgium and he was my security guard for the weekend. We were going around different clubs and stuff, so he was my security guard and he was a part of ‘The Money Team.’"
Five years later, Mayweather was looking for a late-notice opponent for his February 25 show at London’s O2 Arena when Muay Thai fighter Liam Harrison was forced out due to a knee injury.
So, Chalmers thought he’d try his luck and messaged his one-time bodyguard, who remains closely linked to Mayweather, about potentially filling in against ‘The Best Ever’.
He added: “I sent just an off-the-cuff message on Instagram. He still had my number. I’ve still got the same number. He texts us, ‘Ring me now.’
“I rang him and within ten minutes he had given me the fight because I had taken him for a meal and just treated him how you would treat anyone.
"Five years later, it's spun back around. You can call it good karma. I got the fight two days later. The contract was in my inbox… It was literally a throw-away message and literally, ten minutes later I’m on the phone and the fight is mine.”
Chalmers will fight arguably the best boxer of all time on Saturday evening despite labouring to a decision win in his first and only boxing bout last year.
‘The Joker’ enjoyed a seven-fight career in MMA and he impressed with his punching power before deciding to pursue lucrative paydays against influencer boxers such as KSI, Tommy Fury, and Jake Paul.
Mayweather will be fighting for the sixth time since walking away from professional boxing in 2017 after stretching his perfect record to 50-0 by beating UFC legend Conor McGregor.
‘Money’ has cashed in by fighting MMA fighters, an old sparring partner, and YouTubers – now he’ll test himself against a reality TV star who is hoping a good performance will earn him more big fights down the line.
