Benavidez is putting his 26-0 record on the line against Plant whose only career defeat came at the hands of Canelo in 2021.

Both fighters are former super-middleweight champions, with ‘Sweethands’ Plant losing his title in his only loss two years ago.

The Red Flag’ Benavidez was initially stripped of his title after testing positive for cocaine in 2018, before winning it back and then losing it again by missing weight ahead of his fight with Roamer Alexis Angelo in 2020.

With a title shot on the line, Benvidez and Plant are set to put on a show as they look to give themselves a chance at regaining their championship belt.

Benavidez vs Plant: What has been said?

At their pre-fight press conference last month, Plant was quick to take a dig at Benavidez being stripped of his title in 2018.

He said: “I’m exactly where I want to be. I’m in the fight that I want… March 25th, you don’t got to worry about me pulling out.

“I’m gonna show up… and when I show up, I show up on weight, and I don’t test positive for cocaine neither.”

After tensions rose due to the comments, Benavidez then took the microphone to say his piece back to his opponent.

“There’s been a lot of s*** talking going back and forth, but on March 25th I get to put hands on Caleb Plant,” he said.

“And trust me when I say I’m going to beat the living s*** out of you, p***y.

“And then when you’re on the f***ing ground, bleeding from your f***ing mouth you’ll learn how to respect a real f***ing monster.

“This dude, he has 13 knockouts… I was champion before you… You a chump.

“You ain’t nothing. And come March 25th, mark my words, I’m gonna put this motherf***** in the hospital.”
