Dmitry Bivol's manager Vadim Kornilov has stated that the Russian will only accept a rematch with Canelo Alvarez if he agrees to certain terms.

Last May, Canelo moved up to light-heavyweight (175lbs) to challenge Bivol for his WBA world title in the weight class, only to lose by unanimous decision.

In an upset, the champion retained his title and handed Mexico's boxing superstar only the second defeat of his professional career to date.

It was his first loss since being beaten by Floyd Mayweather as a 23-year-old in 2013.

Canelo has since returned to the ring by moving back down to super-middleweight (168lbs) and outpointing Gennady Golovkin in a trilogy bout to defend his undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO world titles in that division.

He will next make a defence of the belts against John Ryder on May 6 as a homecoming in Jalisco

After this though, he has made it clear that he wants to take on Bivol again.

The Russian and his team are receptive to the lucrative rematch, but Kornilov is adamant that Bivol will only accept the second fight if it is at 168lbs with Canelo's belts on the line.

Kornilov told : "I've said it before, I'm not 100 per cent sure [it will happen].

"Why am I sceptical? To be honest with you I don't really understand why they would wanna do it?

"I think that Canelo himself has that mentality that he really wants it, but from the sense that I get, it doesn't make a lot of sense for them.

"He was talking about Bivol in May and then they decided to do John Ryder.

"Now he's talking about fighting Bivol again and obviously later he can say, 'We wanted the fight, but people didn't wanna accept the terms.'

"Bivol already beat him. He's not that motivated and it's not as big of a challenge for him.

"They would have to meet certain terms that we're asking for.

"One of those terms right now is Bivol wants to fight him at 168lbs.

"It's enticing for him to put all the titles on the line and he doesn't want any more excuses.

"Because Canelo said after the last fight that he went up in weight, but he's done that before, a lot of fighters have done that.

Bivol is unhappy that Canelo blamed size for his defeat, when he previously won a world title at light-heavyweight by KOing Sergey Kovalev in 2019

"Saying that, 'I made a mistake,' on the time that you lose, it doesn't sound right because it wasn't a mistake when you won, when you beat Sergey Kovalev.

"If all the terms come together, then I'll believe in it, we can make the fight happen.

"But right now it's everybody saying, 'I want the rematch, I want the rematch, but I don't see any action."
