Oleksandr Usyk is now a true heavyweight having beaten Anthony Joshua to become the unified world champion.

When he first moved into the division from cruiserweight, many doubted that Usyk would have the size to combat the best of the big men.

Within his first 16 fights, Usyk cleaned out the cruiserweight (200lbs) division.

He travelled to Poland to beat Krzysztof Glowacki, travelled to America to beat Michael Hunter, travelled to Germany to beat Marco Huck, travelled to Latvia to beat Mairis Briedis, travelled to Russia to beat Murat Gassiev and travelled to the UK to beat Tony Bellew.

By the end of it all, he was crowned the undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO cruiserweight champion of the world.

As a result, he opted to move up to heavyweight (200lbs+).

In his first fight in the division in 2019, he scaled 215lbs and stopped gatekeeper Chazz Witherspoon.

Then, in 2020, he was 217¼lbs for a unanimous decision victory over Derek Chisora.

When he challenged Anthony Joshua for the WBA, IBF and WBO world titles in 2021, he weighed 221¼lbs and again won a unanimous decision.

And he kept a similar weight for their 2022 rematch, for which he scaled 221½lbs and emerged victorious by split decision.

For most of the 11 months that have passed since his last fight, Usyk has been targeting a clash with Tyson Fury and so been bulking up further to combat his potential opponent's size.

However, this fight has not come to fruition and so he will instead take on another sizeable heavyweight in mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois on August 26.

In his latest training photos, Usyk showed off his heavyweight evolution once again as he looked rock solid while playing basketball.

A far cry from the skinny cruiserweight of old.
