I went the distance with Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor’s training partner – now I want Jake Paul

Aaron Chalmers hopes to face Jake Paul before retiring from fighting.
The former Geordie Shore star initially transitioned from reality TV to MMA before crossing over to boxing where influencers have been making a splash for several years.
After picking up a four-round debut win over Alexander Zeledon in June 2022, Chalmers was given the chance to fight boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in his second squared circle bout.
The chance to fight ‘Money’ came as a surprise to Chalmers.
He told marvelbet369.com: “I had nothing penciled in. Then the next day I heard there was a Mayweather fight and I spoke to somebody on the team. Then two days later I had the contract in my inbox.
“At one point, I was thinking, ‘There’s no way this is going to happen. No f****** way I'm f****** fighting Floyd Mayweather.' Fast forward f****** five weeks, I’m standing in the ring and he’s standing across from us.”
‘The Joker’ looked relatively comfortable going the eight-round distance with Mayweather at London’s O2 Arena in February – it’s an experience he’ll cherish forever.
Chalmers added: "After he said, ‘You’re one tough motherf***** but I’ve been in with everyone. I knew what you was going to do before you even knew you was going to do it.'
“I haven’t got one bad word to say about him. He was really respectful and really nice. He wished us well because my son was having surgery a couple of days after the fight.
“No one can ever take away that I did eight rounds with Mayweather. I was in there, did eight rounds, and didn’t get stopped. No one can ever take that away from me.”
Next up, Chalmers found himself in another big fight with Keifer Crosbie.
The Irishman, who trains with UFC superstar Conor McGregor, did what Mayweather couldn’t as he dropped Chalmers en route to a unanimous decision victory.
On September 23, the MTV star will face another tough opponent.
Chalmers is set to headline a Misfits card in Newcastle against former Love Island star and undefeated professional boxer, Idris Virgo, who will enter their fight as a heavy favourite.
As he edges closer to his forties, the latecomer to boxing is determined to give everything he has to the sport and hopefully secure a massive fight before calling time on his career..
“I’m 37 next year, so I’ve got 12 to 18 months left,” Chalmers said.
“So, if I can get some big fights and call it a day, then that would be it. I would absolutely f****** love to fight Jake [Paul], that would be a dream.”
Chalmers is open to fighting Paul in boxing or MMA. ‘The Problem Child’ announced earlier this year he will transition to a new sport with the Professional Fighters League [PFL] in 2024.
The 26-year-old is currently looking for an opponent for his MMA debut after Nate Diaz turned down the chance of a rematch in his chosen sport after being beaten by Paul in boxing last month.
Chalmers concluded: “I was speaking to the PFL. I almost signed for the PFL and then it didn’t happen. I am still in contact with someone from the PFL.
"I did try to push for me in MMA versus Jake, and boxing as a double. It is something I’d love to revisit but I’ve got to get Idris out of the way and then I’ll start with the online trolling to get the next one.”
