Oleksandr Usyk's promoter Alex Krassyuk is using Tyson Fury's own words against him.

On Friday, it was announced that the undisputed heavyweight world title showdown between the two champions will not take place on February 17 as planned because the Brit suffered a serious cut in sparring.

A statement from Fury said: "I am absolutely devastated after preparing for this fight for so long and being in such superb condition.

"I feel bad for everyone involved in this huge event and I will work diligently towards the rescheduled date once the eye has healed.

"I can only apologise to everyone affected including my own team, Team Usyk, the undercard fighters, partners, and fans as well as our hosts and my friends in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."

The bout has now been rescheduled for May 18.

Footage emerges appearing to show the moment Tyson Fury was cut by an elbow in sparring, causing the Oleksandr Usyk fight to be postponed

Usyk's team came out firing after the news broke, as his manager Egis Klimas ripped into Fury.

Klimas told Ring Magazine: "Tyson Fury is a f***ing coward who will do anything not to face Usyk, and he asked his bitch to hit him with a frying pan in his brow. You can quote me word for word for that."

Usyk's promoter Alex Krassyuk took his time before issuing a public response.

On Saturday, he went live on Instagram to answer fans' questions about the situation.

At one point during his 40-minute stream, Krassyuk read out an old tweet that Fury sent in 2013.

At the time, the young Gypsy King was set to face David Haye, only for him to pull out a week before the fight due to a cut suffered in sparring.

Fury did not take the news well and insinuated that Haye engineered the situation deliberately to avoid him.

Krassyuk read out the tweet which said: "The cut is genuine. Correct. You can't box with the cut. Correct. Has to be cancelled. That's why he's cut so he can pull out. S***house."

Haye himself has even commented on this situation, over ten years on from their cancelled fight.

He said: "Fury suffers a cut a couple of weeks before the fight.

"I know that pain all so well - in 2013 when I was scheduled to fight Tyson Fury, I suffered a cut.

"And oh did I not hear the end of it from him.

"I actually remember at the time thinking, 'I hope one day before one of his big fights he has to suffer this, he's been that much of a dick about it,' and here we are.

"But I don't feel that good about it at all.”
