Canelo Alvarez eyeing return to Eddie Hearn in deal that could see him fight Edgar Berlanga and Jaime Munguia instead of David Benavidez and Terence Crawford
Canelo Alvarez is reportedly eyeing a switch to rejoin Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing and leave Al Haymon's PBC according to reports.
It was expected that Alvarez would return to the ring on Cinco De Mayo weekend in May, as part of his lucrative three-fight deal with the PBC that he signed in 2023.

However, a report from has indicated that the undisputed champion will instead ink a new deal with Matchroom Boxing and DAZN, which could see him face Edgar Berlanga and Jaime Munguia.
He tweeted: "Everything indicates that it won't be fights with Jermall Charlo, David Benavidez, or Terence Crawford or even under the PBC banner for Canelo.
"The plan for fights against Edgar Berlanga and Jaime Munguia with Eddie Hearn has instead been activated for the four-time world champion."
Puerto Rican born Berlanga picked up a dominant stoppage win over Padraig McCrory at the weekend, to continue his blazing trail at 168lbs.

His promoter Hearn had already suggested the rising star as a potential opponent for Alvarez prior to the impressive outing in the US.

Munguia was viewed as an ideal opponent for Alvarez by the PBC, but Hearn is set to also be in position to make an offer for the fight, due to his relationship with DAZN.
Per the PBC's original plan, Jermall Charlo was originally anticipated to be the frontrunner for a chance to avenge his twin brother Jermell's defeat on Alvarez's traditional May fight date.
Boxing fans have also expressed their desire to see a mega-fight with undefeated contender David Benavidez, but that also now appears unlikely.
Benavidez's promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, took to social media in a later deleted tweet to claim that a guaranteed $55 million purse offer had been made to Alvarez for the clash with Benavidez.

But this was then dismissed by the boxing icon's trainer and manager Eddy Reynoso, who insisted that no formal contact had been made.

Reynoso told : “The reality is that none of the big promoters, not Al Haymon from Premier Boxing Champions, not Eddie Hearn from Matchroom, not Bob Arum from Top Rank and not even Oscar De La Hoya from Golden Boy have given me an offer to fight Benavidez… and certainly not Terence Crawford.
“The fight with Benavidez may take time or may never happen, but it depends on many things."
Arguably the biggest option available with Al Haymon's PBC was a huge showdown with pound-for-pound contender Terence Crawford.
Fans became excited after the doors opened for a huge clash, following news that Crawford's anticipated rematch with Errol Spence was no longer in the pipeline.
But a mouth-watering war between the two undisputed champions appears to be off the cards, with alternative fights against Berlanga and Munguia now deemed more likely.
An announcement on Alvarez's next career move and opponent is expected this week according to Reynoso.
The 33-year-old's future looks set to finally be resolved.
