Fans have been left stunned after Mike Tyson's ex-rivals Buster Douglas and Michael Spinks announced an 'AI' boxing match.

Douglas and Spinks are considered two heavyweight greats of the 80's and 90's, with both having competed against former undisputed champion Tyson during their heyday.

The pair are now both over 60 years of age, with Douglas having hung up his gloves in 1999, while Spinks hasn't fought since 1988.

Spinks was knocked out by Tyson in 91 seconds during their 1988 encounter, but the fight billed 'Once and For All' became the richest fight in the sport's history at the time.

Douglas gained notoriety for causing one of the biggest upsets in sporting history, stopping previously undefeated Tyson in their showdown two years later.

'Iron' had announced his own shock return to the boxing ring last week, as he is set to meet YouTube star Jake Paul in a bout on July 20.

Confusion continued with fans interpreting the event as a real fight, with one writing: "No I know the brothers need money but this might be too dangerous."

Another urged the promoter to call off the event, adding: "Please stop it! The love for clout is a damn drug! Who in the blue hell wants to see this?"

A fan added: "Poor Spinks looks like he has no clue to what the hell is going on."

The boxing world will be eager to know exactly how this will unfold, but the peculiar nature of the sport never fails to deliver a new surprise.
