Terence Crawford’s trainer drops retirement hint as Canelo Alvarez fight target set

Terence Crawford's coach Brian 'Bomac' Mcintyre has insisted his charge could retire if he beats Canelo Alvarez.
Crawford is interested in a huge mega-fight with current undisputed 168lbs champion Alvarez, and Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh is keen to make the showdown happen.
'Bud' previously held all four belts at 147lbs, but will next move up to 154lbs to face Israil Madrimov, as he looks to gradually increase his weight.
His coach McIntyre has insisted that Crawford is currently focused on Madrimov, but would complete his career perfectly if he was to face and beat the Mexican.
He told : “Bud has got it in him [to defeat Canelo]. I can see him doing it.
"Is it a challenge for him? Of course. Is it a challenge for the whole team?
"Of course, but that’s what we’re in the business for, being great.
"I know that Bud has the tools to beat him. If Bud beats Canelo, we may damn near retire, if you beat the pound-for-pound king. But my mind is on Madrimov."
Crawford is now 36-years-old and and is considered one of the best current pound-for-pound boxers.
A showdown with Alvarez would be his biggest challenge yet, given their notable size difference.
His rival is also considered a pound-for-pound leading star, and there would be huge commercial interest if the pair did touch gloves.
Alvarez has yet to pencil in his next fight, but is understood to be a target for WBC mandatory challenger David Benavidez at 168lbs.
Despite being three-divisions below him, the current undisputed king would be keen to face Crawford providing the financial incentive is huge.
"Crawford is a great fighter, obviously, three divisions below," Canelo said at a 'No Golf, No Life' presentation.
"As I've said before, I've fought bigger guys, guys in my category, smaller guys, older guys, younger guys.
"At the end of the day, I was born to fight, and I'll fight anyone, obviously on terms that suit me best.
"At this point in my career, I'll always make the best fights, but they have to benefit me. It depends on the money, why not?"
