Many boxers attempt to answer the debate, with some real warriors having stepped in the ring and staked their claim to the 'GOAT' title.

When asked to name a Mount Rushmore of the sweet science, Ali Walsh surprisingly named Alvarez on his list.

He told marvelbet369.com: "Honestly he is number one on my list [Muhammad Ali] whether we are related or not.

"He is the greatest fighter of all-time, then in second Sugar Ray Leonard.

"He was one of my favourite fighters ever, I really loved him.

"And in third, yeah Canelo I'd have to go with Canelo. He is a truly great fighter."

Alvarez has cemented his name as a leading current pound-for-pound fighter, having reigned as undisputed champion at 168lbs for several years now.

The Mexican has held multiple world championships in four weight classes, and has fought some of the best including Floyd Mayweather, Gennady Golovkin and Miguel Cotto.

Leonard is often included in greatest of all-time lists, having competed at the pinnacle of the sport from 1977 to 1997.

The highly-skilled operator formed part of the epic rival groups 'Four Kings' fighting Roberto Duran, Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns at the peak of their powers.

He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, winning world titles in five weight classes including the undisputed title in the welterweight division.

But Ali has been ranked above them, which is no great surprise given his extraordinary achivements.

Ali reigned as undisputed heavyweight champion at the peak of his powers, and showed off his flamboyant style against a whole host of greats including George Foreman, Joe Frazier and Ken Norton.

Ali Walsh is currently trying to set his own path in boxing, following in the footsteps of his famous grandfather.

Despite not having gained physical training from his relative, the 23-year-old has insisted he was taught moves on videos that he watched with the legend.

He continued: "Physically when I would hang out with him he was too old to be doing the shuffle.

He never did the shuffle for me, but I got to watch plenty of videos with him.

"I watched plenty of videos with him doing the shuffle and pulling out some other moves.

"He taught me and told me directly that moving and dancing is what makes a fighter great.

"I have always kept that in mind during my fights and I will be sure to keep doing that."
