Conor McGregor teases bare-knuckle boxing switch at end of UFC contract

Conor McGregor has made it clear that he wants to dip his toes into bare-knuckle boxing once his UFC contract ends.
The Irishman recently became a part owner of the American bare-knuckle boxing promotion, Bare-Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) and intends to compete for the organisation.
McGregor hasn't fought in MMA since breaking his leg during his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier in July 2021 but was scheduled to return to the Octagon against Michael Chandler last month.
However, the former two-weight UFC champion suffered a broken toe in sparring, leading to the contest being postponed.
A new date is yet to be announced although esteemed MMA journalist Ariel Helwani claims the UFC are targeting December 14.
After his fight with Chandler, McGregor only has one fight left on his UFC deal.
Once that is up, he is aiming to ditch the gloves.
Speaking at the launch press conference for BKFC Spain in Marbella on Thursday, McGregor said: "For me, I've got a bit of business left with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, two fights left on my contract.
"But for sure we have three lightweights up here and I have my eye on all of this.
"I'm not here up here just as a knower, player-manager I'd title myself on this."
BKFC Spain is being headlined by a BKFC lightweight title fight between Tony Soto and Franco Tenaglia with former boxing world title challenger and BKFC welterweight king Austin Trout taking on British bare-knuckle boxing star Ricardo Franco in the co-feature attraction.
Multi-weight BKB world champion Dan Chapman also makes his BKFC debut on the same bill, as does former WBA welterweight titleholder Hannah Rankin.
The event is set to take place on October 12 at the Marbella Arena in Marbella, Spain.
All of the action can be streamed on the BKFC app with a BKFC+ subscription for $7.99 per month.
The rest of the undercard is expected to be announced in the coming days including Chapman and Rankin's opponents.
