In December 2023, the former undisputed lightweight king moved up in weight and outclassed Regis Prograis to claim the WBC super-lightweight crown.

He then signed to face Ryan Garcia in a huge clash in April, but this night far from went to plan.

Haney was floored three times and beaten by unanimous decision in a wild upset.

However, the result was overturned not long later.

Garcia tested positive for the banned PED ostarine in a series of drugs tests taken on the day before and day of the bout.

As such, his win was invalidated and Haney's undefeated boxing record was restored.

In the eyes on many fans though, the damage has already been done to Haney's reputation and his air of invincibility cannot be restored like his record.

Garcia has also been banned from boxing for one year.

Haney vowed to take some time out of the ring following the controversy, but is now nearing a return.

Just as news emerged yesterday suggesting he is close to a deal to return to action in Saudi Arabia, a video has also emerged of him involved in a street fight.

While it's not clear from the clip what sparked the fairground altercation, Haney can be seen exchanging words with a man and then throwing a single punch at him, which misses.

Members of Haney's entourage pick up the fight with the man on his behalf, while the boxer walks away from the situation.

On Friday, Garcia reacted to the clip as he tweeted: "He couldn’t even drop a civilian. Also you talked about being a great role model.

"You really punched someone while your whole team jumps one guy."

In a since-deleted tweet, Haney replied: "Based on the way you guys use that N word, you guys would probably be the best of friends."

Garcia was expelled by the WBC in July after saying and tweeting a series of racial slurs against Black people and Muslims.

Devin's father, Bill Haney, was one of very few people who gave a lenient reaction as he said: "I'm definitely not happy to see the kid crashing out.

"I always try to be as optimistic as I can as just a human being.

"I hope everyone could be with me in my most trying times, as well as him going through his...

"All that team, I wish them well, but there's no place for that kind of talk.

"In particular being directed in the way that it's being directed. There's just no place for it."

Haney Sr concluded: "I think that he should get help.

"I don't believe in kicking a man while he's down. But he definitely should get help."
