talkSPORT Exclusive – Calzaghe: ‘Klitschko fight would be difficult for Haye’

Joe Calzaghe has told talkSPORT that David Haye would face the fight of his life to beat either of the Klitschko brothers.

Haye is the current WBA world heavyweight champion and has been linked with a big money clash against either of the giant Ukranians, Vitali or Vladimir.

But Calzaghe, the former unbeaten super middleweight and light heavyweight champion of the world, fears the siblings would be too strong for the Bermondsey banger.

Calzaghe told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: "I think it would be very difficult David. He’s just won the world title and maybe he should get a couple of defences in before he fights the Klitschkos.

"The problem with the Klitschkos is they’re so big. David is fast and imporving, but the Klitschkos are the best in the world.

"They’re much bigger then David and his punch resistance has been shown up in previous fights when people have put him down. But that’s what makes him exciting and why people want to see him fight."

Despite his concerns for Haye, Calzaghe believes he would have a chance, escpecially if he's matched against the younger Klitschko.

"Vladimir has been down quite a few times, and David would have a better chance against him," added Calzaghe. "He’d be the underdog but he would have a chance of winning."
