Top 20 current UK boxers RANKED by their best win – talkSPORT opinion

20: Dillian Whyte (16-0) – click right to count down to number one

Last week I ranked the top 20 pound-for-pound boxers in the UK and it’s fair to say it caused a bit of a stir.

One of the main issues some people had with the list was my decision to rank Anthony Joshua ahead of Carl Frampton.

People argued Frampton’s win over Leo Santa Cruz was better than Joshua’s over Wladimir Klitschko and so the Northern Irishman should claim the number one spot. But I disputed this, claiming Frampton’s loss to Santa Cruz in the rematch took away from his overall pound-for-pound ranking.

Anyway, this then gave me the idea to rank our 20 best current boxers by their best wins alone.

These wins are ranked mainly by how good the opponents were and their respective accomplishments, but I have also taken into account the opponents’ age/experience and injury status.

Tyson Fury is in this list as, unlike with the pound-for-pound ranking, recent activity is irrelevant. As long as he’s not retired, he counts.
