‘I can’t see Mayweather coming out of this with too many marks on his face’ – UFC fighter Danny Roberts on Mayweather v McGregor

British UFC star Danny Roberts has told talkSPORT Conor McGregor deserves huge respect for his decision to get into the boxing ring with Floyd Mayweather…but admits he can’t see the Irishman winning their upcoming super-fight.
After months of build-up and a world trash talk tour, McGregor and Mayweather will finally go head-to-head on Saturday.
The Las Vegas showdown promises to be one of the biggest boxing events in history, but many believe mixed martial arts superstar McGregor has bitten off more than he can chew by agreeing to box against the undefeated American.
London-born welterweight Roberts knows what it takes to make the switch between the disciplines, having swapped boxing for MMA in 2010.
The 30-year-old was a special guest on Tuesday’s Hawksbee and Jacobs show and gave a fascinating insight into McGregor’s journey from the UFC octagon to the boxing ring, and he admits the Dublin icon is facing a herculean task to take down the Money Man.
“I can’t see Mayweather coming out of this with too many marks on his face,” he told talkSPORT.
“…but the fact McGregor has stepped up to the plate and he is doing what he’s doing, I take my hat off to him.
“Nobody can criticise the guy, I feel like you have to give him respect. He’s absolutely dominated and proved he can be the biggest athlete, the biggest individual in one sport and now he’s moved on to another.
“He’s doing his own thing and you’ve got to give the guy respect for that.”
