Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn LIVE RESULTS: ‘Next Gen’ wins 12-round war in all-time classic bout – updates and reaction

Chris Eubank Jr. BEAT Conor Benn after a 12-round war to settle their family feud in one of British boxing’s all-time classics.

The duo were initially meant to reignite their fathers' rivalry in October 2022, but Benn failed a drug test.

After a two-year battle with the UK Anti-Doping Agency [UKAD], he was eventually cleared, and a bout with Eubank Jr was rearranged.

The hatred between the two goes back to the days of Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr, who fought in two epic battles in 1990 and 1993.

Their sons have now staged one of their own, with Eubank Jr finally getting the result 116-112 on all three scorecards.

  • Eubank Jr update

Chris Eubank Jr will reportedly stay in hospital until Monday following his win over Conor Benn.

Eubank Jr was taken to hospital straight after the fight on medical advice.

Sky Sports report that initial tests have come back clear, but he will remain in The Royal London until Monday.

His father, Chris Eubank Snr, has been at his bedside.

A statement from Boxxer's Ben Shalom said: "I'm pleased to confirm Chris is doing well and currently resting. There is no truth to the rumours regarding a broken jaw.

"As part of his standard post-fight protocol, Chris went to hospital for precautionary checks to monitor his vitals and ensure everything is in order.

"They take these measures very seriously, given everything they have experienced. This process is something they now prioritise after every fight.

"Chris and Conor gave absolutely everything in what was the biggest legacy fight of all time. With their fathers standing proudly behind them, it was a moment that will forever be stamped in sporting history."

  • 'Speedy recovery'

Conor Benn has wished Chris Eubank Jr 'a speedy recovery' as the latter was rushed to hospital after their 12-round war.

'Next Gen' was expected to attend his media duties after the fight, but on medical advice, he was taken to hospital in an ambulance and given little time to celebrate his career-defining win.

Benn did make his post-fight press conference and had no bad words for his bitter rival.

"I wish him well," he said. "I know he's gone to the hospital - I've heard he's got a broken jaw.

"So I wish him a speedy recovery. I also want to thank [Chris Eubank] Sr for turning up because this really is a family affair, and it wouldn't have been what it was without Sr there."

  • Chris Eubank Sr claims Conor Benn is 'superior fighter'

Speaking to talkSPORT's Gareth A Davies, 'Simply the Best' said: "I was always going to be here for my son, irrespective of what you thought.

"Suspense is part of the game. The performance, championship rounds, standing toe to toe.

"The credit I am going to give to Conor. I told you he was a superior fighter, but he shouldn't be fighting at 160lbs.

"He is a 147lbs fighter. What couldn't he do around the world?

"He has been destroyed by the people who are handling him.

"They need to be held to account. Do your job, do your job, do your job!"

  • Eddie Hearn: Benn 'people's champion'

Conor Benn's promoter said: "I couldn't split them at the end.

"116-112 three times, you've seen me moan before. I don't see Chris Eubank winning that fight by four rounds.

"Nigel Benn is the people's champion. Tonight, Conor Benn became the people's champion.

"He took the kitchen sink, he never stopped trying to win the fight. A little bit of inactivity, a little bit of inexperience. Razor thin, we'll see what happens. We'll see if we do the rematch or not at 160."

  • Crestfallen Benn speaks on defeat

He said: "Maybe 14 months out of the ring played a factor. I felt like it was a close fight. I've got to watch it back, I know it was close."

"He worked harder towards the end, I'll have to watch it back mine. I enjoyed it. It was some homecoming."

"Yeah, listen, we always knew Chris was a good fighter. All the fighting talk is fighting talk. He's a good fighter.

"I believe I can fight at 160. If we don't do the rematch, which I'd love to avenge the loss.

"[WBC and WBA super-lightweight champion] Mario Barrios or Eubank, whichever comes next, I'll be content with."

  • Eubank Jr reacts to legacy win

He told Sky Sports: "I knew I was capable of that. I just needed someone to bring that out of me. Not going to lie, I didn't expect him to be able to do that."

"I pushed through. I'm happy to have this man back with me. We've upheld the family name like we said we were going to do. Onwards and upwards."

"It's one of those things that was special. He (his dad) needed to be here. All of this is because of what he did. We just did it again, baby."

"I thought I would break him early. I underestimated him. I didn't train for a fight like that.

"He's (Conor Benn) never shown that. But he had to show it tonight."

A delighted Eubank Sr added: "I am so proud of him. That's my son. I was always going to be here. That's right, rastafari."

  • CHRIS EUBANKS WINS!!!!

EUBANK TAKES IT ON THE CARDS!

116-112 on the scorecards from all three judges as Eubanks wins by unanimous decision.

Adam Catterall told talkSPORT: "Conor Benn was absolutely magnificent!

"The heart, the guts, the determination, was absolutely incredible.

"It could have gone either way, but I agree that Eubank just nicked that one...we have just witnessed three round of the year contenders."

Spencer Oliver added: "That is one of the greatest fights I have seen in a British ring in a long, long time."

  • Eubank Jr vs Benn – Round 12

The crowd are going bonkers as both guys slug it out for glory in the 12th and final round.

Eubank and Benn leave everything out there as the pair throw everything at each other in search of a knockout.

Big right hands from both land and Benn's eyes look to be gone, but then he hits back with a stunning jab of his own.

  • Eubank Jr vs Benn – Round 11

As Spencer Oliver said, ‘they’ve carved their own legacies’ and the rest of our watchalong team are in complete agreement!

One of the best rounds of boxing I've seen in a long time, what a contest we've had here. We never expected anything like this."

Steve Collins: "This has been one of the best fights I've seen in a long time, that last round was like a movie."

John Rawling told talkSPORT: "What an epic, it's one to compare to the first fight between their fathers in 1990.":

Adam Catterall said: "All the talk before was about whether these two could stand on the shoulders of giants, and they are delivering!"

  • Eubank Jr vs Benn – Round 10

This is a brawl - both fighters are leaving it all on the line, they know how much of a legacy showdown this is!

Eubank's corner have done well patching up the cut over his eye between rounds, but he looks tired and Benn is still throwing.

A MASSIVE RIGHT HAND FROM BENN!

Eubank takes it, but those wobbly legs are back as he wraps up his rival desperately, and the referee forces a separation.

'Next Gen' finds that uppercut again from the break, but Benn responds with an overhand right.

Eubank won't be denied, and a stupendous effort from Jr. sees him finish the stronger of the two with a late flurry.

  • Eubank Jr vs Benn – Round 9

A huge uppercut from both men lands flush - first Benn, but Eubank responds in kind, and this has become a slug-fest.

'Next Gen' is starting to show first signs of damage since the second round, as a cut above his right eye opens up.

All his rhythm from the middle of the fight is abandoned as a huge right hand from Benn lands!

Eubank Jr is on wobbly legs but continues to push forward to back Benn onto the ropes.

The crowd senses a knockout, but then the bell sounds!

  • Eubank Jr vs Benn – Round 8

This is not a fight for purists, but where technique lacks, it more than makes up for in passion and endeavour.

After several rounds under the cosh, Benn gets a second wind by seizing the advantage early in the eighth.

However, as John Rawling said, "There is a danger Conor Benn punches himself out here...he's putting everything in.

"It's a real question how much is he taking out of his reserves?"

The pair then get the Tottenham stadium on its feet with a ferocious exchange as they exchange blows.

Benn, backed up against the ropes, gives as good as he gets as the two swing and eat hooks in equal measure.

  • Eubank Jr vs Benn – Round 7

Another warning for both men for punching on the break at the start of the seventh, and that will be their final one.

The next one will be a point docked.

Undeterred, Eubank steps forward and lands a big hook to the body - and then an uppercut, but Benn eats them both.

The Destroyer shows he can take the bigger man's punches, however, his head movement has decreased round-on-round.

Eubank, having ridden that early storm, is now dominating the fight and is finding it all too easy to catch his rival.

Benn attempts to land another overhand right but Eubank slips it and survives the potential of a late flurry.

The pair exchange words at the bell.

Spencer said: "Can Conor Benn compete at this level and the answer is yes! He's taken some big shots and he's still firing."

  • Eubank Jr vs Benn – Round 6

Fatigue is evident from Benn as he continues to look for those big power shots, but now Eubank has established a rhythm.

Apart from that second-round shot, 'Next Gen' hasn't looked troubled by his opponent as he finds another nice uppercut.

TalkSPORT's Spencer Oliver concedes, 'Benn is starting to look a bit reckless this round.'

It's another Eubank round, which would make it level on rounds at three apiece if the judges are scoring this as I am.

  • Eubank Jr vs Benn – Round 5

Benn is down, but the referee instantly waves away any suggestion of a knockdown as he's been shoved by the much bigger Eubank.

The Destroyer acrobatically returns to his feet with a backwards roll, however, other highlights are few and far between.

Benn continues to push forward while missing with those wild overhand rights as he begins to tire.

"Eubank's boxing skill is beginning to take the edge," John Rawling told talkSPORT.

Gareth A Davies added: "Ollie Watkins, the Aston Villa striker, is absolutely delighted - the whole row of superstars are loving this.

"Watkins might even have a fight one day...he's saying no."

  • Eubank Jr vs Benn – Round 4

    Signs of life from Eubank!

A good spell from 'Next Gen' after such a poor start as a right hook to the body lands as Benn's explosive speed just begins to slow.

A big uppercut from Eubank finds its mark, but 'The Destroyer' takes it well and lands two solid right hands inside the final minute.

It is Eubank who has the final say with a jab to push Benn back onto the ropes, and that's the first round in favour of the A-side.

"Is he starting to find the rhythm?", Spencer Oliver asks.

  • Eubank Jr vs Benn – Round 3

    EUBANK IS ROCKED!

Finally, that wild overhand right from Benn lands and 'Next Gen' has to wrap up his rival to steady his feet.

The Destroyer attempts to free himself from the tussle while swinging underhooks, but his momentum is slowed briefly.

In farcical scenes, Eubank wraps his arms around Benn's midriff and the pair take an awkward tumble to the canvas.

The referee separates the pair, and Benn wastes little time landing another powerful hook before the bell.

  • Eubank Jr vs Benn – Round 2

Eubank really needs to ride out this early storm because Benn is showing no signs of letting up his early intensity.

The pair both race to the centre of the ring, and the Destroyer's left hook lands several times, but overhand rights miss wildly.

Eubank Sr is telling his son to use the jab from ringside!

"Speed is definitely with Conor Benn," Spencer Oliver told talkSPORT.

"Eubank's gotta be educated with what he does, because right now Benn is looking explosive."

Adam Catterall added: "Conor Benn looks absolutely fantastic...he is missing wildly but for the first six minutes he's been on point."

  • Eubank Jr vs Benn - Round 1

An understandably frenetic and nervy opening from both fighters in what is a feverous atmosphere inside Tottenham.

Eubank's size advantage over Benn is obvious, he's looking leaps healthier than he did at the weigh-in 24 hours earlier.

The Destroyer's trump card, his speed, is at the maximum during the opening exchanges, and he lands the first big shot of the fight.

A glancing blow to the temple puts Eubank Jr on the ropes, but he misses with some explosive wild left hooks.

A positive first round for Benn, who, as expected, starts fast, but how long he can keep up this pace only he knows!

  • WE ARE UNDERWAY!

It's been a soap opera over two years in the making!

All the hype, all the build-up - now it's fighting for real.

  • A reunion years in the making!

We thought it would never happen, and certainly not tonight, but Chris Eubank Sr has embraced Nigel Benn in the middle of the ring.

Will it be the same for their sons after they go to war?
