Chris Eubank Jr smacked an egg round the face of Conor Benn at their press conference - and couldn't resist making a cheeky joke afterwards.

The pair stood toe-to-toe for the first time ahead of their highly-anticipated bout on April 26, and things descended into chaos in Manchester at the end of proceedings.

Following the bad-tempered press conference, during which both men traded low blows about one another's boxing career, a brawl erupted after Eubank Jr caught Benn with an egg.

Benn had to be held back by three security officials inside the arena as he attempted to control his rage.

"That’s the only shot you’ll land on me you f****** p****," a furious Benn posted on X moments after the incident.

"2 rounds you are finished @ChrisEubankJr."

Eubank Jr also reacted to the incident with a post on X, claiming he used an egg in response to the reason why the pair's original fight was postponed.

Benn cited an 'overconsumption of eggs' as the reason for testing positive for the female fertility drug clomifene in 2022.

"Apparently egg contamination was the reason for his two failed drugs tests. So I contaminated him with an egg," Eubank Jr wrote.

He later added: "Eggcellent," in response to a photo of Benn with egg dripping from his face.

Benn is moving up two divisions from 147lbs to 160lbs to fight Eubank Jr.

And the stakes of their bout were heightened even further this week after it was revealed that either Eubank Jr or Benn could land a mega showdown with Canelo Alvarez if they win their grudge fight.

Saudi boxing Chief Turki Alalshikh plotted the sensational route to a fight with the pound-for-pound superstar Alvarez in 2026.

"Whoever is the winner, we are working in the future to have him fight against Canelo," he told Sky Sports.

During the press conference, Eubank Jr also went after Benn’s representative, Eddie Hearn, telling the Matchroom Boxing promoter that he didn’t want to hear from him.

Hearn slapped back several times, claiming that people would prefer to hear from him than Eubank Jr.

It was also revealed before the wild brawl that there is indeed a rematch clause in both fighter’s contract.

Hearn claimed the clause was brought forward by Shalom, who shut down his rival promoter by saying both sides agreed to the deal.

Ahead of the fight, Hearn backed a ‘possessed’ Benn to stop Eubank Jr in six rounds when speaking with talkSPORT Breakfast.

"Honestly, I've never seen anyone train like Conor Benn,” he said.

"We live in an age where they like to document their work. Conor Benn is training like a man possessed.

"I think Chris Eubank's on the beach at the minute. He hits pads for about 30 seconds and then puts it out on Instagram."

Speaking after the intense face-off, Hearn was unsure if his team will be able to go ahead with Thursday's scheduled press conference following the incident.

"I thought it was a glass, because of the noise it made when it smashed," he told

"The world we live in today, it will go viral and people will think it is amazing.

"But let me tell you one thing, in the fight game everything changes now about this fight.

"You don't want to be backstage tonight. If I was you, if you see Nigel Benn tonight run.

"This fight was heated, this fight had bad blood, and I don't know if we can do Thursday's press conference. I've got to be honest with you, because it will be attack on site."

London will make history in April as it hosts Ring Magazine's first-ever boxing card title 'Fatal Fury: City of Wolves'.

The card is headlined by the long-awaited grudge fight between rivals Eubank Jr and Benn.

They will meet at an expected sold-out Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, April 26.

Both fighters will go head-to-head 35 years after their legendary boxing fathers Chris Eubank Snr and Nigel Benn battled it out in the 1990s.

Eubank and Benn headline an action-packed card which also includes light heavyweights Anthony Yarde and Lyndon Arthur locking horns in a trilogy.

Meanwhile, former world champion Liam Smith, who has a knockout victory over Eubank Jr on his record, returns to action against rising star Aaron McKenna.

Ex-cruiserweight world champion Chris Billam-Smith will take on Brandon Glanton on the card too.
